How to get a clown to host?

Hello all , I need some assistance. I just bought two mated Allardi African Clownfish (Amphiprion Allardi) for my sons 65 gallon tank and we were wondering if they would host the frog spawn or a hairy mushroom. The small male has gone out and picked at both in a curious manner , he seems intersted. However my Behns damsel has been a bit aggressive, luckly its subsiding. How long will it be untill they host one? Will they host my large lobophyllia? Also my LFS had a good sized green bubble tip anemone, would it just be better to go back and get that for $75? Thank you for all of your help.

Since a BTA is a natural host for a Allardi you will have much better luck of them accepting an anemone for a host than a coral. $75 for a green BTA ??? That anemone is way over priced. I would try to find a different lfs, a local reefer that is selling their bta or a clone bta.

I agree, that is too much to pay for a gbta. Do you have any local reef clubs? That's where I'd start. A fair price around here is between $30 and $40. for a gbta.

Good news , i think. The male has been patrolling the frogspawn but not actually going in it , the female however , has rubbed up against both the frog spawn and the hairy mushroom.
also i was wondering if it was normal behavior for the female to chase and kind of "herd" the male back to the frogspawn if he strays to far from it.

Well today was my first day to try and get the Behns Damsel out. ha! it was laughable. well we are gonna keep tryin but if anyone has some tips please tell me because i need to know. The reason for the removal is because he keeps nippin the clowns to the point where they look like zombie fins. However they occasionly stand up for themselves and they eat fine. so if anyone has any damsel catching tips please tell me.

GBTA's here in TN are $50 and RBTA's are $80+

try turning off all the lights and the lights in the room so that its pitch black. If you have a red led light, fish don't react to red, if not use a small flash light to locate the fish and turn it off before you move in with the net.

It's sad to say, but we have usually just had to break down all the rock & corals into huge tubs of saltwater to get out speedy little fish. That's in a 125 though, so hopefully you'll have better luck with your little guy. You might wanna be careful with your anenome though. He may move all over the tank for a while before he finds a home & he can sting & kill corals as he does so.

The deed is done. The evil damsel overlord of the tank has just been taken out. woot! well it wasnt easy we had to tear apart the tank but know it looks better thatn before wow who knew well thx everyone.
