how does your caps do??
its just so strange
heres some pics of the rest of my corals
it sucks cuz if i had a nice monti or 2 id be so happy
i wish i just knew what the deal was
these next 3 corals are all wild corals doing great in my tank and growing good and kept towards the bottom
this is my valida which is next to the colt within a few inches and doin great
and heres the other yellow finger leather at the far corner of my tank its pretty big too
and i have more sps in the tank along with lots of otehr things and they all do well
i checked my alk and ca again today 400 and 8dkh so i think everything is in line still
all i can think of now is low nutrients

Dude, I can tell just by those pics that you have VERY low nutrients! You have some of the same corals I do like the "valida" and here
I would do like I said before and increase the feedings to once a day, no more than 10% WC a week and reduce the phosban to only once a week or not at all IMO. Here are a few of my monti's

how can u tell my tanks low nutrients or not??
i only do a 30g water change once every 3 weeks on my 180 so thats not overkill
my skimmer works really good though
ill take a pic and show u how much its pulled out in 2 and a half days its alot.....

i feed my tank everyday about 2 frozen cubes of mysid and brine....
then twice a week i feed oyster eggs

I'm with VCoo71. Maybe your tank is TOO clean. I know my Monti's seem to do a little better when I can actually detect Nitrate in my tank.

well how does that work then.....
i have had zero nitrates in my tank since day one when i transferred my 100 gallon to this 180....
and back in my 180 i always had zero nitrates.....
i feed my fish pleanty i think and they poop alot lol and i feed with oyster eggs twice a week.....
should i turn on the phosban reactor? should i feed more? what else can i do i dont want to get a "dirty" tank but i wanna keep montis
it wierd cuz i thought leathers such as my finger one and my colt like dirty water but they are doing really good in my tank with clean water so what gives guys

hmmmm so ur sayin ur water isnt a 100% clean and u still have issues with montis??
interesting....
cuz i had issues with them back in my old 100g tank when other sps were doing fine and my wate was a lil dirtier now i could tell since i had some hair algae in the tank....
anyways to me i feel like they are getting burnt or something IMO..
i just dont know what else it could be ive exhausted everything but getting rid of the leathers those are the only things left that are carried over from both tanks and i havent tried changing yet....
i think i might change that though and get rid of them
