I'm not gonna be the one to start the "official" 2011 bowhunting thread, its too soon. BUT, anyone else going nuts with anticipation and Buck fever? I as out scouting a new sight this am. Hoof prints, trails, travel corridors, bedding areas ..... making me crazy!

My husband and son are psyched. I used to go but I get so damn cold. We can go out right across from our house which is where I shot the only thing I ever got, a turkey.

I haven't ever been for real hunting but have always been intrigued by bow hunting. As a kid my dad always took me shooting and taught me about guns as a good dad should. I'm a heck of a shot because of it but just never really got all jacked about actually hunting. I love paintball and can understand the rush of the shot though. It's def fun moving around undetected and getting that perfect shot.

Thats ironic seeing this thread posted up.I just happened to see 2 bucks still in velvet around 5:30pm good size 8 &5 or 6 not sure.Mostly does so its pretty rare for me anyway to see 2 bucks in the daytime like that, outside the rut season.

Some years back I started planting those fruit trees Lowes sells ($18.00 apiece in the springtime) Few apple (golden delicious, macs, cortlands) Pear trees, black cherries, and peaches.I didnt even know you could grow peaches here, yep they have all been producing now.I just did a few each year to go easy on the wallet.
Anyway,I'll try to setup a tripod and get a few pics .Deer come through like clockwork everyday.between 7-8am usually then again in the evening.

Its been raining for the past few days here and I haven't seen much till this morning, when I took this pic.
8 total but I could only get a pic of these.2 were nursing and I was trying to get a pic of it but spooked 'em when I went outside. So this is what I got.

No buck.just does ,yearlings and fawns.

bucks don't eat well, i'd zap one with spots if given the opportunity

Lol, I hear ya' guys.I haven't taken a buck in several years, more from lack of quality hunting time than anything else.I have no problem taken a midsize doe but, those smaller ,dog size ones ,lol ,I dont know just not enough on those.

Cully,
I let a few other guys hunt here and its pretty much all I can do.I thought I offered you a spot either last year or year before,I apoligize if Im mistaken ,but I didnt think you were interested. Or maybe you already had a spot, cant remember really.
Either way,I can let you know if someone bails or isn't coming this year.

Wow Steve thanks! I've got a small spot to go but o just lost my 300 acre dairy/corn farm to some guys that are leasing it. Farmer's got taxes to pay, he felt bad but I understand. But I also can't afford to pay what 5 guys can pay. Working on a couple other spots but nothing solid yet. If something opens up for bow, let me know!

Calling a new lead tonight....600acres......got butterflies .....

Struck out on the new lead....more leasers. Door to door is hard when you're going up against the Almighty dollar.

I just went to a 3d target range yesterday. Cold, windy and slightly raining, but I still managed to hit a hanging apple at 25 yards (for the second time this year first attempt each). Gregs archery out in moravia. The guys I shoot with agree if you hit the apple you win the course. Gotta try it sometime.
