I just can't help myself . Pics of my sps tank image intense

Here is a pic of my nana which can't be seen in my close up shots but is in the bottom right corner . This was a rescue piece and was 80% dead when I got it . I don't know how many times in the first few weeks I wanted to hack it up just to get the few frags I could but I resisted and I am glad I didn't.

wow, awesome tank :)

this was only set up last march? is that right?

Thanks!

Close rock went into the tank jan 23rd ( had to look back at my 120 sps tank thread). So it has been a year since setup. First corals were added march 8th.

Thanks GMAX....

Here is a new coral that has made it into the display.I always was a sucker for a yellow coral.

How do you get your Phosban to have a twist cap

I notice that you are running a phosban reactor. Did you feel that you needed that, or just put it on to lower nutreants a little more? Did you notice any diffrence in your coral after adding it?

Thanks,
Whiskey

I need it . It gives me control :) But basically I was using salifert po4 test kits and I was always reading 0 . But as I looked at my tank I had great color but something was missing . Thats when I decided to buy the martini colorimeter. Low and behold my 0 with salifert was .05 with the colorimeter. Thats when I dug out the reactor out of my fish equipment closet filled it with an enitre thing of phosban and started to use it at a very slow flow rate . Slower over the next week I upped the flow . In this time I had notice a few corals lighten up just a tad. I knew then I was on the right track :) So I contiuned to up the flow for the next week once I reached the best flow for my reactor I let it go a few days then replace the media and continue with the full flow .

IMO when I nailed my po4 my growth rates took another leap and my green and maroon bodied sps started to lighten up and colors started jumping.

Now that my po4 stays around .02-.00 I can feed heavy enough to get my richer colors. If I slow down on feeding or skip 2 days I notice a few corals lighten a bit more .
