I-Tech Skimmer Club .

I don't recall any orange fittings in my Tunze pump the last time I took it apart (about 2-3 months ago) for cleaning but I might be forgetting something. If it is a Tunze pump, Roger will be your best point of contact.

Still have my 100 and love it. One of those rock solid purchases.

I doubt it, cones skimmers have really come down in price since the I-tech skimmer came out. I think he would need a oversea builder to stay competitive. I have a 200 model with the tunze pump.

I bought this brandnew iTech200 / Tunze Hydrofoamer pump package deal two years ago from the "Ichty guys" in FL when I started my 180g project. project got put on HOLD for 2yrs but now i'm moving forward.

Pics above show exactly what was shipped to me.

Every pic I've seen posted in this i-tech club has the pump OUTSIDE the cone skimmer yet mine had the Tunze Hydrofoamer INSIDE braced on an internal bracket. In the shipping box there was NO instruction sheet on how to set thsi skimmer up. just a booklet on the Tunze pump.

So.... does the Tunze pump go inside or outside the cone skimmer? I ASSUME it stays inside since pic#4 above shows how the AC-cord is molded / notched-out for the cord to go thru the skimmer base. if I moved the pump outside that notch would have water flow/pressure going thru it.

But by looking at pic#2 above there are leftover parts to the right. ......the leftover bubble-plate looks like the one used when the pump is outside the skimmer. So i'm really CONFUSED....

Better to setup Tunze inside? or Outside?

Help please! i'm blind without an instruction sheet or owners manual.....

Based upon the pics, it would appear yours could be configured for an internal or external pump. I have a 100 I've been running for years now, and its been one of the best investments I've made in equipment.

keep tunze internal then? also what water depth should the skimmer be tuned in at?

...again, i have no instruction manual to go by

If you have the space in your sump I would take the pump out and use the other bubble plate provided. It will increase dwell time and make it easier to service the pump. The other bubble plate looks like a better design as well.

I wish John would make an HOB skimmer. I'd be part of the club if he did!

I think an I-tech is worth the trouble of finding a sump to put it in. But then you gotta find an I-tech to put in it. Finding the one I want was not easy i tell you. I searched the boards here for a good three months until i found my 100 3 hours away. Totally worth the drive, and it didn't look like it ever even saw water. It may be different for you, but here in my area, owning an I-tech is like having that classic car people wished they bought years ago. It's honestly my favorite piece of the tank.

I absolutely understand. I had an i-Tech 100 for a while and absolutely loved it.

There has been some concern over buying these skimmers because theyre not being made anymore. With the exception of a rare freak accident, the pump is really the only wear/replacement part on the skimmer, and Tunze isn't going anywhere. The Hydrofoamer is an excellent skimmer pump.

For that matter, the PSK 600 with an aftermarket venturi works VERY well on my 100. If anyone needs an aquabee with one of John's venturis for the 100, let me know ;)
