I-Tech Skimmer Club .

I need some help with my I-tech 100 skimmer. I currently have it sitting in 6 3/4 - 7 inches of water. No matter which way I adjust the water level tube it immediately fills the cup with bubbles and water and has excessive microbubbles from the return.

Anyone still have one of these that can give me some ideas on how to fix this?

I tried raising it to 6" of water but still same outcome.

I have the Tunze hydrofoamer. I don't see a dot, here is a picture of the skimmer. I was told to twist the water level tube itself to adjust bubbles up and down in the neck.

Also it could be something in the water. If you recently used epoxy, water conditioners, etc that can cause overflow issues.

I would run some new carbon and try it again tomorrow. Also, clean out the airline tubing with HOT water. Sometimes salt creep builds up inside and you don't notice it.

Make sure that when you clean the airline, you also clean the fitting down into the venturi. Typically, what most folks do is get some VERY hot water in a container, disconnect the airline from the nipple at the top of the stand pipe, then let the skimmer aspirate the hot water in through the tube. This will also get the hot water into the venturi. You will overflow your skimmer while this is happening, but it't not a big deal.

Another possible culprit would be red slime remover that hasn't been exported out of the system after it did it's job.

Also, if the pump you're using hasn't been restricted properly, it will flow too much for the skimmer; that's why I asked about your pump and venturi setup.

They don't make these anymore? What happened? Did the company go under? I love my 200. I run it with the pump externally although I have the option to use the lump inside.

Rummer has it that the owner john had gotten sick or family things. Even heard that he wasn't able to get the parts he needed from the supplier. But still I'm hopping for the day to see them back in production. Every iTech skimmer owner I've talked to always say "They have to be one of the best skimmers they've owned." Solid build quality and perform like a champ. I'd also be interested in an iTech super monster skimmer.

Rumors, I heard that the builder went under or would not build them anymore, the process was very daunting I heard that they put the acrylic in acid so they could form it into a cone. I have a 200 half custom half production.

The Tunze Pump on my iTech 200 just stopped making bubbles....
I'm guessing the impeller is shot, it's vibrating like crazy....
Any idea where to go for a replacement?
Google didn't have any hits with the part number for the pump.
I'll call the usual stores....

edit - looks like I need to call Tunze US directly. The pump on the 200 is a 9420.Q4A
It must be a discontinued model..... hopefully the replacement 9420.040 uses the same parts....

I know nobody has posted on here in about a month but just wanted to post real quick. I just recently became the proud owner of an i-tech 200. Definitely way overkill on my 75g system. When people say this is the type of skimmer you redo your sump/add a sump they aren't joking. This thing barely squeezes in my sump, and that's without the pump. Solution, build a second sump and connect it to the main sump, and run the skimmer in the smaller sump. Here is just a test fit,the moment I realized it wasn't going to work in my current sump.

Thanks or sharing, they are nice skimmers, most people that have I-tech skimmers live in Florida, I also have the 200 model but live on the other coast.
