I-Tech Skimmer Club .

My I-tech 100 with aquabee pump has been excellent! Im positive you guys will like yours very much.

And as most of you know or are finding out, John has great customer service too!

A quick question for the 100 owners:

How long did it take yours to break in? I didn't run it in a vinegar solution for a couple of days like I usually do, but it has been running for 5 days and has yet to produce any skimmate. I have it on a 40 with a low bioload, but am feeding fairly heavy and added some new live rock about the same time, which I thought would result in at least some production.

Thanks!

Murraycamp,

Are yourunning a fuge, if so, does all water pass through the fuge b4 the skimmer? What pump are you using, and with what venturi? There are things that can remove the low level of DOCs in your system to the point where the skimmer may hvae nothing to pull, but no system is sterile. I'd give John a call and go over your question with him.

Thanks Chris. No fuge, skimmer is in first chamber. It's using the AB pump per recommendation.

I know there are some organics in this system as I am running .08 PO4 (from the recently introduced additional LR) and 1 ppm NO3. I will call John.

I'm on the list for a 200 for our 150 gal system. I'm going to go with the Sicce since it's going to be a while for the Tunze.

The msx 250 uses 2 pumps and would cycle twice the water the 2oo will. I would go with the 250 if you plan on stocking the 150 with much load. the sicce pumps just dont move enough water in my opinion to keep up with a heavy load in a 150. Too much for one pump that is. hope this helps

another happy customer here.. just got my 100 with the tunze 9410 and i'm impressed! awesome design, ULTRA quiet.. it's been running for about an hour and i'm sure i'll be even happier once it breaks in and i get some skimmate.

thanks for the great service john!

he only received a couple if i heard him correctly. i've been patiently waiting and was lucky enough to receive one.

i can't hear my tank anymore from upstairs- i feel like it's not running!

Yes that probably makes sense. According to John earlier, Tunze is primary using the pumps for its own line of skimmer and as replacement. I guess John only got a handful of the pump and you are lucky enough to be one of them who has it. :)

Make sure to report back how the skimmer perform with the new Tunze pump.

did you get the 100 w/tunze? no way

did you get the 100 w/tunze? no way

ghostshadow did you get the 100 with the tunze from jhon?
i was at the store last wensday and i was told that the tunze was not even ready yeat that it need it to be check and aprove by tunze
how can you have one/
went did you get that one?
i just got my 100 and i am runung it with the AB but i realy want it the tunze

i was on the waitlist from months back and my timing was just right so that i was one of a couple (maybe only 2?) to get the tunze to try out as it was my turn on the list for a 100.

it's not approved by tunze yet. i agreed to purchase the pump with the skimmer knowing that i will NOT be covered under warranty if i have any issues until tunze gives their thumbs up. i was willing to take that chance.

sorry if this caused in issue.. i should have kept my mouth shut but i can tell you that it works very well even on the first night- i'm getting a nice frothy foam head and it hasn't been running that long.

i'm sure all will go well, tunze will approve.. and it will all be worth the wait!

Just got mine in the tank. So far so good. I was on the waiting list back in the beginning of this post and kept be indecisive so I lost out on the 100.00 savings. I went with the 100 for my 60g w/ 15-20g sump. Sump probably close to 10g with the amount of water running in it.

I plan to add a remote refuge down the road to help get rid of some of my algae problem.

how much do you close the water exit.

All skimmers/Setups are different, and I'm sure sump water level plays a part, but I have mine set at about 3/4 of the way between the 3rd and 4rth dot and I'm getting an EXTREMELY dry/black skimmate. I probably need to wetten it up just a touch as the top of the neck gets dirty pretty quick and then slows down production within a day or so. This is with the Aquabee and venturi from i-Tech. From pictures it seems like the bubble/waterline inside my skimmer runs a little higher than some of the others I've seen, but my system may be a little less nutrient rich than others, which would probably shrink the head down a little requring me to run the line a little higher to push stuff up and over.

I've been lazy and haven't taken any pics of video lately, but the skimmer is working wonderfully.
