How "hairy" a gig is is dependent primarily on its health and comfort. If it's healthy and happy, it'll have tentacles that make it look like a shag rug from the 70s. The only exception to this are green gigs, which in many cases to resemble haddoni with shorter tentacles that have more rounded tips. I think the hybrid hypothesis is still up for debate. I tend to think it's just a characteristic of a green morph, as we've seen quite a few of these particular green haddoni-ish morphs now.
I'm hoping to beat Dr. Minh to this thread, as I know he'll quickly fill up the page with his gigs (that's a good thing BTW).
Here's my tan gig that I sold almost a year ago:
Is this hairy enough?
Here's my purple one that died a couple of weeks ago:

Very hairy and very happy:
Here's my green one (I call it mine because I've had it for months now, and I don't think the original owner wants it back because he has bad anemone juju):
I'm traveling to southern CA this week, and part of my trip will include stops at various fish stores to look for a blue gig. My fingers are crossed!
