I would like to keep a pair of occys but don't want eggs rotting all over the place.

Is this a problem? I know it takes a lot of time and expertise to raise clownfish fry and they probably will just plug up the filters.

I've had a single ocellaris in the past and just loved it. I had him in my care for 8 years until it fell victim of an accident.

If it's too messy to keep a pair of clowns, I could just keep one.

If you don't bother on capturing the fry when they hatch, they will end up as a)food for the fish/corals b) sucked up into the filter c) both.

Any easy way to look at this : how many posts have you seen on any forum complaining about too many clownfish fry being a problem?

This is not an issue. If the fish are laying eggs, it's because you are adding enough nutrients to the system to allow them to do so. When the eggs hatch, they become food for Mom and Dad, other inhabitants, or removed by filtration. All of which is a good thing for the system.

Also a pair of clownfish do not always guarantee mating/breeding/egg laying. Just search around to see how many people are TRYING.

Plus even if they do have eggs- I'm sure someone in the state of montana would be willing to take them from you to raise.

Yeah, I can see that they would be nutritious, when most of their mass is made up of a yolk sac.
