Thats very nice. Certainly makes it more appealing. Thats if they decide to release new firmware as needed by the community.
Or the community members can design their own firmware to unlock a ton of potential. Not uncommon!

At 100% i can hear it if im close to the tank. from across the room i cannot. However, that is subjective. One mans tolerable is another mans unbearable.
at anything less than 60% i cant hear it at all.
For those that have the 3k gyre, how quiet it is to other pumps you use or have used?
I have two xf250 on my 6' tank but I feel the flow still lacking so I have two MP60 as well.

Correct. Although as others have stated -- If you only need one this is probably great, if you need two the savings aren't quite as nice, considering you wont be able to link them together or use with Apex.
I just ordered one from BRS. I currently have two RW-8s and two generic Chinese "2000 gph" powerheads in my 125. I also had an RW-15 which provide plenty of flow but after having two die I am done with them. Right now with just the 4 powerheads I don't have good flow and I have piles of fish poop piling up.
I am hoping this will replace the two generic Chinese powerheads so I will have three powerheads total. I will use my two RW-8s hooked up to my Apex to create random flow and have the Gyre pulse.
I am not new to the gyre game. I owned the Jebao knockoff which I promptly returned after realizing it was garbage (constant noise, unreliable, etc.). I also owned the original Maxpect Gyre for a while but I didn't feel like it was a quality product so I sold it.
I'll report back with my findings in a few days. I work next to my tank 8-9 hours a day so noise is a big deal to me so I am hoping it is quiet.
The opinion of people that have experience with Maxpect and knock-offs and now the Ice Cap is highly valuable! Looking forward to your review....I am not new to the gyre game. I've never had a gyre. How much do I need to worry about this thing breaking my tank?
Plus many times people will find ways to run things like this or someone will make a cable or something that makes it work with the apex. I could be wrong but I've seen it in the past with other products.
