Wanted to say hello. Ive had a reef tank in the past but really wish I had found this site at that time!!!! So I hope to learn alot more than I found out the hard way before.

Have you checked out the nano forum? there are plenty of people with the tiny tanks like yours. They are definitely more of a challenge.

Hello everyone!! I'm gettn into this hobby with a 120rr tank and 30 long sump...got 145lbs of rock and about 80lbs of sand.... Aquaspace hqi metal halide 3 bulbs... Just finished my cycle, lookin for a skimmer...awesome site!!

Hi everyone! New to RC. I setup my new 40g Tall at the end of December. I curently have about 20lb LR(DIYing about 80lbs more at the end of the month) 150w MH + 2x14w T5 actinics. I have 2 false perc clowns who are starting to show obvious signs of one becoming the lady and the other the male in the relationship. And a recent addition, a Gold Head Sleeper Goby.
I added my first coral a 100 polyp zoa, I thought at the time there were all the same however, under better lighting about half are green and the other are a VIVID green and red.
I added my first LPS coral a green and red/blue acan that has gained the beginnings of 2 new polyps in the last week.
I really look forward to learning from the vast wealth of knowledge here on RC and in time giving back to those that have helped me.

welcome to the forum, that sounds like 100 pounds of rock eventually going into your 40 gallon tank, that may be a little too much, dont forget to allow for swimming space for your fishes, and dont add too much stock too quickly either, good luck in the new venture.mike

I have been doing SW aquariums about a 2 years now. Right now i have a 40 gallon reef tank that i am needing some help with(my first reef tank). My second tank is a 75 gallon octopus tank. I have kept about 5 octos and 2 different species. My reef tank has a bunch of softies and a few sps. My softies are doing awesome but my sps need some help. Thats how i found you guys I have looked at other reef forum site but this one is by far the best. :beer:

It would be nice if you started your own build thread. A cube tank of that size is a little different and I am sure alot of reefers would like to follow your progress

Had my first 10 gal appx. 1968..marine fowler appx. 1982 (built my first protein skimmer then from 3" PVC, 1 1/2" Pvc and a cool whip container to collect skimmate. air stone in the bottom of 4 ft of the 3" with the water pumping from top to bottom. Any way the heater stuck on and carnage prevailed. Thus ended fish in the eighties. Kept my 75 and 32. Feb 2009 up went the 75 and found the hobby went from the prop age to the jet age. Tank is going good with the new technology except my old 25 yr tank has no center support. Support came w/ tank glass cover and inserted after water in and glass spread from the water pressure. Old lights not good so got the mh/pc/led in one (4ft). Bought a blonde tang and then read about him...Hmmmmmmmm
125 gal tank minimum........Hmmmmm Get a 180:thumbsup:. 180 up in July 09. Oct/Nov Piped the 180 and 75 together with a 22 gal refug macro algae on shelf behind 180 w/ siphon and pump back to 180. 75 pumps to 180 and Eshopps 1200 gal overflow return. Two months ago I bought my fisrt coral. A Kenya Tree doing great. Now have button polyps, torch coral, frogspawn, galaxia, cabbage, green star polyps and 7 shrooms. hey RC! I'm, contemplating a reef setup in the near future. i have moderate experience in planted aquariums and have a 10g with very prolific RCS & 40g planted w/ pressurized co2. those are both doing great, so i think it may be time for a new challenge.
i read through all the newbie corner articles last night >.< they are such a great help, thank you waterkeeper! i will most likely be reading and asking questions for a while before i start collecting my setup.
