Hi all! My name is Forrest, im 23 and live in NorCal. My dad has been in the hobby and had a business when I was young. He's now opened and began a new much more intricate aquarium related shop; and a few weeks ago down in sac him and I went to a big aquarium shop to get some new stuff for the shop and he got me hooked. Saltwater seems amazing and coral seems that but tenfold, I'm very excited to begin a new hobby especially one I can bond more with my dad over. I've been researching when I have free time, Sk8tr is a wealth of knowledge and in sure you can expect me to ask for help madam! I have a 54gal (says the 12600 cubic inches) I will be building a sump/refuge probably a 20-30 gal. Will be starting in another few weeks. Currently in the R&D part!

Hi all, my name is Forrest, I am 23 and live in NorCal. Long story short my dad has been in the hobby a long time and recently opened a shop much more aimed at saltwater. A few weeks back we were in Sacramento and went to a big shop down there, he got me hooked. Saltwater is awesome but coral is what got my attention the most and what I feel I really enjoy. This site, especially Sk8tr, seem to be a huge wealth of knowledge. I am currently in the R&D phase. I enjoy the research that is involved with a new hobby. I have a 54gal (says the 12600 cubic inches) and will be building a sump/fuge and will be thoroughly taking my time. Look forward to becoming a part of this hobby and this forum!!

Welcome! I'm in Sac and at about the same stage you are but with a smaller tank.

Hey reefers! I am coming back into the hobby after a 4 break. I plan to get a nano for the kids with easy softies like zoa's and Ricordias. Undecided on fish yet. Reading up it seems things have slightly changed and new equipment galore. Lets see how long we stick with just a nano, lol.

Hi reef central, My name is Eric. I have been in the saltwater/ marine for about 6 months. I had freshwater before for about a year. I have a 29 gallon FOWLR and am in the middle of building up a 55 gallon reef tank. I find this just so addicting. I would say it is about as addicting as tattoos. Which I find very addicting.

I'm new to RC and have recently gotten back into the hobby, I just graduated from FSU and of course don't have the money that my parents had for their tank. Thanks to my parents I have 1 mp10 (would like 2) 1 AI vega color (need 2) a 10 gallon tank as a sump, and a 55 gallon set up with base rock and live sand. just ordered a bubble magnus skimmer, and still need a few more things, but the tank is cycling and hopefully will be ready for fish and corals in a few more weeks (2 weeks) any help is always accepted.

Hi! My stepdad has been into this hobby for quite some time, and with an awesome 72 gallon Oceanic bowfront tank and stand, I'm ready to get started with a FOWLR setup.

I'll be in and out of some threads, learning as much as I can! I teach Biology and Chemistry, so I'm looking forward to utilizing this experience as a teaching tool in the classroom.

My friend referred me to this site when I told him I would like to get information on starting up a salt water aquarium. I'm 40 years old and my son and I are interested in this hobby. We have had the small fresh water tanks but we are now looking for more of a challenge and something we can share together.

Hello,

My name is Chris and I also am a 21 year old college student. I am new to the hobby and absolutely addicted! I am working towards my first reef tank now. I really enjoy learning everything I can about aquarium maintenance and this forum has done nothing but helped! Thanks!

Hello Chris, welcome to the hobby! You're going to have a blaas! Although Im not really new, after a four year hiatus from the hobby I have returned with full obsession in hand! Feels good to be back!

Hello to all! I've just joined RC after lurking the last few weeks. I'm from the US, but my wife and I have been living in Thailand for the last year and a half. We got scuba certified while here and that really has drawn my interest in someday reef keeping. If just a couple weeks I'll be moving to Dallas to begin job searching there. So sadly I do not plan to start up an aquarium anytime soon, but it's still so interesting to research and plan for the future tank. Reef Central is by far the most helpful forum I have found. So hello to all you lucky people that already have tanks!

Just signed up as it looks like there is a ton of useful info here with some knowledgeable people.

I've has a fresh water tanks for about 5 years and have now decided to try go marine. Its looks overwhelming - very different to freshwater but will take it slowly and thread through the forum for the next month :)
