If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Hey

Hey

Hey, my name is Joshua, I'm in the planning stage of my soon to be 75 gal reef tank, I'm still way off but can't wait. I've had FW for a while now and I like it, but it's just not the same.

Hi all,
My name is DeeAnn. I've been lurking here for a couple months and thought I should probably introduce myself... finally. I'm a super newbie, in the process of setting up my first sw tank. I want to start a build journal to keep me busy while cycling. I'm not a patient person, and I think cycling is going to really try my patience.

Hi all,

my name is Constant and I'm from Germany.
I just got into seawater after approx. 10 years absence of freshwater. My tank is a 72 gallon cube (26x26x26) and I use 2 x AI Vega Color for lighting.
I'm looking for information about timer settings for the AI Vega Color and found out that there' plenty of it in the forum about AI Sol and only little about the Vega Color. Or maybe I've just not found the right thread, yet.
Any help is more than welcome.
Cheers,
Constant

Hello everyone, my name is Chen and a complete beginner in terms of fish keeping :)
Just started a 45G saltwater tank after spending days of researching and reading on the internet.
Nice to meet you all :)

Hey everyone, my name is Chris.
I have had a freshwater tank for a few years now but now I just started my first saltwater tank. I have had it running for a few months now. It's a 36 hex with a canister filter. I know they are not looked well upon for saltwater but that's the only thing I could get to fit. I also have an internal Slim Skim protein skimmer. I have about a 2" bed of live sand and 38lbs of LR.

Hello everyone, my name is Adam.
I've been keeping freshwater tanks of various arrangements for over 30 years. I'm planning my first foray into reefkeeping(hopefully starting construction next year). So right now I'm just in the planning/dreaming phase.......and reading lots and lots of reading :)

HI TO ALL, myheliguy here, been into freshwater for 20 years, now into a 12 gallon nano cube...had a 150 gallon reef set up a few years back...

Hi, my name is Jay and i live in Decatur TN. I had a 125 gallon setup for about a year 5 or 6 years ago. I currently have a 125 and plan on doing it right this time. I quess that makes me a newby. I am working on getting my lighting and filter system at present. My pressing question is I my have the option to get my hands on about 125 lbs of live rock cheap. This had been in a working reef tank. I am not sure how it is stored but wonder if it can be restored and how that would happen.how to I keep it until I am ready to put in tank? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm Bill from York, PA.I don't have a SW tank as of yet. I was hoping to get one set up, been chasing some CL adds. I posted a thread earlier about a 40 gallon tank. Looks like I need to do some more research and figure out what I want to keep instead of plowing head first into something that may not work out for me, or be what I really want. I'm looking forward to learning and asking lots and lots of questions as I progress in determining the size of tank and how to set it up. I think a min of 75 gallons is where I will begin.

Hi, I'm George from Farmington CT. I've had plenty of fresh water tanks over the years and I got back in to it about a year ago for my daughter.

Long story short my wife blessed a 40 gallon upgrade to the freshwater tank, we got the tank but before I set it all up she asked, what would it take to go salt water? I always wanted to do salt water but never had the budget. So I modified the tank we had, setup a sump in a way I thought we could get away with and started.

Details to be posted in a tank build thread, at the moment I have several fish, some inverts, and some live rock with a lot of surface algae. Working on getting the nutrients down atm...

Hi I'm Jimmy from Garden Grove, CA. I just started 250 gallons peninsula tank. I've had freshwater tank, koi pond before but first time in saltwater hobby. I've been reading here and tried to learn as much information as i can from all of you here. I hope to meet some friends here.

Hello,

Joined rc about the same day i started reefing, with the help of my lfs, which to my disbelief has been more then helpful of what to do and what not to buy. Tank has been running for 13 weeks with no hiccups except a little overflow problem that i am now used to :lolspin: and i must say it has been one of the most interesting things that i have given my full attention to in a long time. I love all the info the rc family has to give :D i spend at least 30-1 hour a day on rc though im currently in china.

Hi all! Rebecca in Flagstaff, AZ - college student at Northern Arizona University. I'm about to start with a 3 gallon picotank in my dorm after watching my brother and his fiancee (SweetCoralline1) get into the hobby! I'm very new, don't know what I'm really doing at all lol, so I welcome any advice you can give me!

Semi new to hobby

Semi new to hobby

I want to start becoming more active on this site to expand my knowledge of the hobby so much more than it currently is, and this is definitely the site to do it. A little information about myself : I have now had a saltwater tank for almost a year, but i have only been keeping corals for roughly 8 months or so. My first tank was a 50g mixed reef. I also set up a 20g nano tank for an rbta and zoas. I recently broke down and sold both of those tanks. I wanted to venture into the world of larger tanks, so I just setup a 150g. I plan on turning this tank into a sps dominated tank. I look forward to talking with everyone and learning more.

Pictures to come a little later.

Just got my first tank

Just got my first tank

Hi, I'm in Tucson,Az.

I just got my first tank and I am so excited! It's a 200 gallon. I can't wait to fill it with corals and fish. Even with it being empty while cycling, I spend a ton of time watching and listening to the sounds it makes. This is going to be so hard to wait!

I have so much to learn and I hope by coming here I can get many of my questions answered. Any advice would be appreciated.

New and Eager to Learn

New and Eager to Learn

Hi ReefCentral-

My name is Krystina, and my husband and I were welcomed into the hobby of keeping salt water fish by a friend. We are still learning a lot, and we can't wait to start sifting through all of the advice and wisdom available on the site. We started about 3 months ago with a 20 gallon nanocube with 2 clown fish, a brittle star fish, and 2 hermit crabs. We have since added a strawberry crab, an emerald crab, a spotted goby, a pistol shrimp, another start fish, a handful of snails, and an anemone. Our anemone has divided, so we now have 2!!! I'm so excited to nurture our new environment, and hopefully try my hand at some corals.
