Hey I'm Samantha but go by Sam and I am the 27 year old mom of three. I have been with my husband for 10 years and our kids are soon the be 8 year old Nathon (Nate) and our twin girls that are 5 yrs old darla and callie. I am a full time mom and college student getting my bachelors in elementary education as well as working part time at the local schools. I currently have a 10 gallon tank set up for an anemone, hermit crab and a oscellaris clown. I have a 66 gallon long that I will be setting up soon and any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hey guys! Was in the hobby about 3-4 years ago and had a 65 gallon bowfront tank. Went on vacation and when I came back my friend the tankwatcher said he thought something ate my anenome...Turns out it disintegrated and proceeded to kill basically everything in my tank -___-. Live and learn.

Anyways Im doing more research this time and would like to setup a reef tank with some easier soft/lps corals. Moneys not there right now but in the meantime I'm going to study and browse some threads here to try and get a full understanding of the hobby. Hopefully my next attempt at a tank wont end so horribly

Hi I'm Daniel from cushing Oklahoma I'm 23 and just got my first saltwater tank back in April its a basic 55 gallon with some live rock a few corals and a couple fish its pretty sad right now but I'm slowly building it into something special. I love how everyone goes out of they way to look at it. Everyone says how awesome it is but its nothing compared to my vision of what it will be and with all the things I'm learning from everyone here I can't wait to put some things to work

Hello All

Hello All

Hello all, Im Randall and had a Saltwater tank years ago. Got out for awhile do to a move. I have a 35 hex Im considering making Saltwater Reef. Im still working on getting all I need and research since I've been out for so long. Any help and ideas would greatly be appreciated. Do I need a sump for this size tank, etc, Glad to be here.

Hey everyone, I'm new to reef central and also new to the marine world of fishkeeping. I recently bought a Marine Nano bio reef. Have added the live sand, salted RO water and live rock. The live rock has been in for 5 days. I have been testing the water daily. Didn't really notice a spike in the ammonia or nitrite however the nitrate seems a little on the high side. Is this normal, I think that the water change is due in the next couple of days. Is it best to do this earlier rather than later to protect the critters etc in the live rock. I have noticed lots of little worms, bristle stars, mini star fish, feather dusters and some glove coral. I have also noticed some flat worms and have read that they can be a nuisance, would you recommend a 6 line wrasse as one of the first fish introductions to keep these under control. Obviously after the clean up crew have gone in first. The tank is 94L but would guess that it is more like 70L when you consider the filter and live rock. I am looking for a stocking recommendation. Could you please advise on clean up crew members, fish, and soft corals good for adding fr a beginner that have a good survival rate and when would be best to add at which point.

Cheers, Christian

Hi guys, Im pretty much a newbie when it comes to Reef keeping but I use to have a 29 gal fish only about 10 yrs back. Im finally setting up a reef tank but Im starting out small with a 38 gal. I hope to have a nice mixed LPS,SPS tank. Looking back I really wish I would have spent the extra $$ and bought a reef ready ( pre-drilled) tank!!:headwally:Due to my size restrictions I could not go up in size & buy a reef ready tank so I plan to keep reading & asking questions so I can put together a great looking reef tank! Today is day 7 in the cycle, I will keep posting pics as it comes along.

Im using 2x Koralia 750 powerheads
Reef Octopus BH1000 Skimmer
27" Razor R420R LED 160W
Marineland canister filter C series

Hello my name is Brandon. I just recently decided after a good 8 months of seeing an empty fish tank in my living room to do something about it. So i decided that i was going to start a saltwater tank after seeing my cousins and liking the finished product that i saw. I am just starting with a bare bones set up at the moment just have a 40g tank 2 aquaclear 50g filters and thats all at the moment. Have live sand in it right now no live rock yet. Hopefully sunday i will get some live rock from my cousin and i can put that into my tank.

Hi Folks,

I'm Steve and I've decided to build a small reef tank. I've been bouncing between a 10 gal, 20 gal, or an aio made from one of those. My latest crazy idea is to have two 20gal tanks, one as a DT, one as a display sump. The sump would contain algae, crabs, and the other stuff I like. The DT would have the corals and fish.

I've set up Rodin water to be delivered, and pet supplies plus is having their 1$/gal sale. Just need to make up my mind :)

Hi! I'm Eric, I've been keeping freshwater fish for 20 years, for the past 10 years or so I've just had a single 100g Tanganyikan cichlid tank. I've decided to start a reef tank now - a 180 display with filtration in another room.

Too early to start a build thread as I have some other home projects that need to get completed first, but hoping to get started on the reef within 6 months. This site is a fantastic resource! Until I can start my build, I'm reading, learning & planning!

Whats up Reef community.

Signed up yesterday and currently running a 135g Fresh Water, I've been a bit bored of fresh water since i've had plenty type of fishes and since have runned out of new species to buy. So I'm looking into Salt Water which I orginally wanted to do anyways.

I have a 135g tank with 72x18x24 and mostlikely upgrade that to a wider tank since a member of the reef made a good point in one of my post.

If i do convert I will certainly miss some of my fishes and I have alot of things to learn. Like learning how to walk again.

Hello reefers. Looking to start a tank soon. Thanks for everyone contribution to the site. The only fish ive had is the carnival fish so this site has helped me learn.

Hello, I'm Pat from Long Beach. Had a 30 gallon reef tank for about 6 months now. Been lurking the forums for a long time. I have a customized 30 gallon tank. I added two back chambers in the back. The first holds polyester and the second holds my MJ900 and 100w heater. I am planning on adding a SeaStar double LED strip and getting into corals. I have had a xenia I got from a friend for a while now.

Here's my livestock:
2 black occelaris
1 blue yellowtail damsel
2 nassarius snails
1 hermit crab.

Plan on getting into corals. A friend is gonna frag me some GSP.
Any coral suggestions for beginners? Shoot me a PM.
