New to the Hobby

Hi All! :fish2:

I am new to RC and to the hobby. I am 35yo chief datacenter engineer and decided to get into the hobby so my sons and I had something to work on together. I am an ex-Navy Nuke Submariner (LELT), and I am excited to learn more about this hobby and build lasting friendships and networks.
We are starting with a 40 gallon mixed reef tank and I have posted an album up on here. Please feel free to let me know what you think and if there are any local groups to me around the Prince Frederick, Maryland area. Talk to you all soon.

Hi from montreal canada, just started getting into salt water aquariums. Its been such a learning experience and i hope i will learn more from this community.

Well hello there. Not really new to RC as I have been a member since 2013 but a silent one, at best. I am also not new to the hobby but I am new to SPS and got the fever!!

Need all the help Ican get.

Went the SPS route as it seems that my reef tank loves LPSand SPS bout not soft corals. Of all the easy stuff Ican have - I cant as it just dies (mushrooms, leather etc) Yet, Stonies are doing awesome. Knocking on wood.

I live in Miami and would love to hear from any locals.

Iam looking for some sps addtions and wanted to hear/see what everyone else is doing and have.

Thanks!
Cristy

Hi

Hi

Hi all, my name is Josh.

I've been a lurker for a while and just recently created an account. I've been in the hobby for 20-25 years. Started out with freshwater and slowly gravitated to saltwater. Since I got in the hobby I've almost always had a tank around. My current setup is a 125g, mostly dominated by Zoos and Frogspawn with quite a few fish.

Hi all, Arthur here.

Been off from reef keeping like 6 years. Making an come back on an 210g.

Still on design stage tot. Been struggling on the brand and does advance tech nowadays has. Hope to learn more in reefcentral.

Cheers

New to the hobby, just getting started

Hello All,

Although I did have a number of FW aquariums as a kid, and a couple of SW, fish-only aquariums in the 80s, I have no experience with reef aquariums at all but have wanted to get started in this for quite a while.

As of right now I have no equipment and I am currently in the research phase wanting to learn as much as I can before I get started.

Thanks,

-Dave

Well hi guys

Well hi guys

Been surfing around a lot on forums, never actually joined one until now, hope I can contribute.

I was a planted tank fanatic before this.

Also had arowanas, pacus, oscars, pig nosed turtles, reeve's turtles and some weird species I have no idea about. (And no, they were not in the same tank) All were donated to the local zoo when they got huge.

I've started a 30gallon reef, its overstocked, battling nitrate, no casualties so far. Will be upgrading to a 100-120gallon soon, hope to learn more before making the purchases.

New to a reef tank

Hello,
It is like I already know this group well! I have spent hours of reading and researching on this site to help in the slow process of setting up a reef tank. I look forward to talking with everyone and learning more about this hobby!:wavehand:

anyways a big hello to you all from here in England!!

Hey everyone! I'm about to inherit a full saltwater tank setup, just as I was starting to save up to buy one of my own. It seems like it was destiny. In about a week I'll be picking up a 55 gallon tank, which I plan on using to house a peacock mantis.

Hello everyone, Ive been in the process of setting up my 90g tank for about 6 months now and thanks to the many threads on here that Ive been reading, just added my first fish and coral yesterday. I'm sure there's many more things to learn along the way, and just wanted to say thanks

New to these forums, but not new to aquariums. I have been dabbling in aquariums since I was a kid. Started with freshwater years ago. Started with salt water like 10 years ago. I'm no pro at saltwater, as I have a lot still to learn! Hope to learn a lot more from you all in these groups. I am however an experienced scuba/ commercial diver, who wants to bring the ocean home with me!!!

New to the saltwater culture, I've worked in several pet stores but always admired a beautiful tank. Looking to turn my biocube 29 into a nice saltwater tank. Toying with the idea but purchasing necessary equipment in preparation. If any one has any pointers or suggestions, I'm always looking for constructive criticism and opinions. So far I've read many articles and decided to finally join the forum since most articles are from here. Seems like a great 'ocean' of information on here. :fun2:

Greetings!

My name is Ryan. I'm 29 and engaged. Getting married 9/5/2015!

I've got about 10 years experience with freshwater (besides many goldfish when I was younger but my mom tells me they went to go live on a nice farm somewhere).

I'm think I'm ready to dive in to the wonderful world of saltwater.

I'm also a life long gamer. I spent the first $40 I ever earned on a copy of Super Mario Brothers 3 for the NES.

I'm happy to join the community and look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hello all.
I'm sort of a new guy. I was a member here about 10 yrs ago. I had a 20g long back then and just could not keep up with the hobby financially back then so I sold it off.
Anyhoo. 10 yrs later and changes to my career and I'm back!!!
Planning on buying a cadlights 68 versa or the artisan 50 cube. I'm leaning toward the 68 :)
I want this to be an SPS dominated system.
Anyway. I'm excited to be back and looking forward to picking you guys and gals brains in the next few months.
