If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

I'm new to the hobby and new to the site. Glad to be here and enjoying reeding. I have learned A LOT and still I have more questions. My hats go off th those of you who have been at it for 10 years or more...imma fast learner and I know when to listen to good advice (except for that time I was told "it probably isn't a good idea to buy a boat" but I did anyway). I learned tho. Anyway, I purchased an already established 55gal. I have all types of critters living in my rock and sand. I have a refugium roughly 20gal. It's a mixed tank; 1 blue spotted Toby puffer, 1 yellow tang, 1 blue/green chromis, 1 domino damsel, clean up crew of 1 pep shrimp, 2 snails, 2 hermit crabs, finger leather, frogs pawn (that isn't doing very well) several zoa of varying heads and one colony, several shrooms, a few recordia, soon to be bubble tip anemone, some scan, and another flowing clove polyp, and finally a couple aiptasia too. Currently I am using 2 t5 bulbs. 48inch 1 actinic and 1 10,000k both 54watt. I don't know what other information is standard for the introduction post but if you wanna know more, ask.

Hey all!

New to the saltwater scene, I've had freshwater aquariums for a few years, though. I'm in the research and parts-gathering stage of my first saltwater tank, and this site has been so unbelievably helpful! I wanted to say thanks! :D

Hey guys, new here, currently cycling my 29 gal tank to become a reef hopefully! learning a lot just by browsing. should be adding fish next week!

Hello all. I've had a tank going for about a year and a half and still consider myself a noob. I started out with a lionfish (FOWLR) and got board after about 8 months....and then I started to dabble in coral. They say that lionfish aren't reef safe, but we're currently defying the odds and everyone is doing great. Right now I'm mostly learning about chemistry and the needs of my corals. I have a mixed reef with softies, lps and I just started making a few sps purchases about a month ago :) Happy reefing everyone!

Have plenty of freshwater tanks but recently swapped my African Grey for a 125 setup and going to give saltwater a shot, Im planning to go FOWLR then softies/LPS later down the road. My father had a large 250 gallon in our dining room growing up...the extent of my experience with this was reaching for the algae scrapper early one father's day to clean it for him before he woke up and grabbing it, razor-blade first resulting in 11 stitches...so Im a beginner in every sense of the word.

Just ordered by IM Fusion Mini 40. Long time freshwater keeper and am excited about getting started in salt/reef. I'm appreciative of the good advice from experienced members here.

Hi!
I just bought a 25.5" square cube that is 12.5" tall. The guy I bought it from said it was somewhere around 33 gallons.

I don't want to be a pest and ask the same questions that have been asked over and over. Is there a section that tells you what equipment you should start out with? ie wavemaker, sump, protein skimmer etc - including sizes/kinds. I'm reading some books, but I'd really like a list of what I need to make this thing workable.

Hi everyone! I'm Whitney, just signed up. I have a 180g reef, recently switched from a 125g reef tank. Been in the hobby for about 2 years now. Definitely came a long ways from the beginning lol. Here is a picture of the new 180.

I've had my 36 gallon corner tank setup for 3 months now. I've learned that without asking others, you will waste your time and money. So here I am, GobyMon! I have many questions but I will start with my lighting. Currently running a 120w Chinese blue&white box without lenses $65. My corner tank is 24"x24"x20" deep. Looking at upgrading my light. Looking at 1 or 2 hydra 26 or 2 AI primes. I house zoas, shrooms, Duncan's, gsp, and various other small polyps. Tried torch coral and killed it in a week. Don't want anymore loss and need some help on the correct lighting for this strange shape. I would love to house all the beautiful sps and lps seen in many gorgeous tanks on this blog.

Hello All

Hello All

Hello All,
My name is Nikki I have a new tank and know nothing about caring for it. Nano30 little tank to start with.
Have 2 clown fish to start and a live rock. They have not died in 6months.
I would like a bigger tank and more fish and coral but slow and steady wins the race.

Hi my name is Cody and I started a 40 gallon tank 8 months ago and since then have moved up to a 90 gallon bow front. I love my tank and would love to know more about what's going on in my tank. If anyone wants to look at my picture and give me advice for how I can be more successful with my tank please let me know. Thanks for your time and I'm excited about being apart of this site and can't wait to learn more about this new hobby I have fallen in love with.
