Hello everyone,
My name is Mohamad, I'm from Garden City, Mi, I've been in this beautiful hobby for over 2 years now but still consider myself a newbie. Currently I have a 120G, 46G and 29G BioCube, all systems are community reefs. My favorites are all but if I had to choose I would go with the tangs and clowns and oh I love triggers but don't have any due to their nature. In the near future I would like to start a build for a 300-400 gallon aggressive system. I look forward to meeting and making new friends here.
thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself

Hello :)

New here and to the hobby - a week into my first 55 gallon marine tank and loving every second of it.

Looking forward to sharing in some discussions and learning a thing or to!

Hi RC

My names Jack and I am new to the forum and to reefing i just bought my first nano reef on Monday its about !5 inches cube and it came with a clown fish a few snails and a crab!loving it already can't wait to learn more and make my tank even better and maybe even bigger:):)

I'm just starting the hobby again after 7 years. A lot of things has changed. Pumps now are DC driven, Skimmers come in cone shapes LED for lighting, tanks are rimless and controllers are taking over. I've started tracking my build here: paulsvang.com
I bought a used CADLights 100g Artisan II and then sold it to get a Red Sea Reefer 350. Check out my build on my site. Cheers.

hi all , my name is podge ,i live in central europe and just started my reefing adventure in a 180 L tank, i hope to learn as much as i can in here and maybe find a little help when needed
its great to meet you all and look forward to sharing our experiences together
i do hav a question to start with, if anyone can help

in the tank i hav a good sand bed and 16kg of dry rock

i am using the reef mature pro kit to cycle my tank , currently on day 7 (tank was runnin for 3/4 days b4 start of reef kit), it says i should be seeing algae growth by now but i see nothing, i know the algae is inevitable but i was hoping to see something by now and am wondering if this is all normal and will the algae sprout in the next few days, i hav already ordered my clean up crew and will be here in 5 days reef pro kit says put them in in 3 days but i cant until 5th day
also in reef mature pro kit it says from yesterday i should be adding kh coraline pro to the tank to make 3 meq/l but my tank is at 4.1 meq/l without ever adding any, i assume this will change soon and i will wait to add kh coraline pro until kh drops below 3 meq/L

New From Tulsa

New From Tulsa

New saltwater aquarium owner here! Starting off with a 40B FOWLR and maybe progress to keeping corals. Had a 10g freshwater years ago that I had to break down, but loved keeping fish. Half way through my cycle and excited about picking out some fish! Not a very patient person, but loving the lessons in patience this hobby is teaching me thus far.

New to RC but not the hobby

New to RC but not the hobby

Hello everyone,

I am not totally new to this hobby, but my wife and I just moved and I figured I would get back into reefing. Found this forum just to see whats out there now and what interests people have in the hobby. I currently am running a DIY AIO 10 gallon (cycling as I write this post). I will be using the 10 gallon for two purposes. The first is, I will use the tank to seed my 90 gallon system once I finish that build. Once the 90 gallon system is up I will use the 10 gallon system as a hospital system. I will also use it for a home acclimation system prior to placing live stock in the 90. The system that is currently running:

10gallon nano AIO
EShopps protein skimmer
RapidLED Onyx light fixture
Neptune Apex jr controller w/VDM (will be upgrading to a power bar8 with the 90)

I'm debating on starting a build thread for the 90 and tossing a few shots of the 10 while the build goes on.

Hello,

I've been lurking and reading the forums for a while. Have made a few posts in the newbie section and have received great help. I'm looking forward to learning more so I can pay it back.

Rookie Reefer

Rookie Reefer

Hi RC, My name is Chuck I've had a fish tank of some form or another pretty much all of my life, but this is my first reef tank and am committed to doing it right. When we built our house away from the coast 10 years ago and we knew we wanted a tank in the wall. With no real good place to buy saltwater fish etc. we went with a 90 gallon Chiclid tank accessible only from the backside of the tank (inside the "closet") I thought this would be good, and it is to a point. It's very difficult to see what you are doing when you are on a ladder in the back. We have no room for a sump so I'm using just one of the HOB Penguin 330's we had on our freshwater tank and an aquac Remora Pro skimmer with 50 lbs of cured LR 60 lbs of LS and 30lbs of dry sand. The 330 I'm using still has the bio wheel in it and I seem to be getting nitrate rises in just 3 weeks of 20ppm, is this normal? I have yet to get ammonia or nitrite spikes, even after using the dead shrimp method. Could the LR I got from a local guy really be that good that it cycled my tank already in just 3 weeks? I would like to go ahead and get my clean-up crew... or should I wait just a little longer. The hitchhikers all seem to be doing just fine.
I would like to start there with just a few questions, I'm sure I'll have more as I go along here.

Hi just signed

Hi just signed

Hi,

Just signed up as i had a relocation of a 125 gal reef tank in bad shape. I had several tanks BK (Before kids) but had to give it up with the addition of children. Now grown and gone I wanted to get back int it. I need help as it has been 21 years and a lot has changed. I think that the tank is set up pretty well with sump, protein skimmer, florescent and LED lights . Canister filter as well as a Aqua-pure de- nitrate thing. Algae issues as well as hi nitrates weekly. May be overloaded . Please help this modest beginner transform this neglect tank into the show tank it deserves to be.

Hi I'm going to be starting a reef tank in another month. I'm so excited to get input from this board as I start this new venture. I am located in Columbia South Carolina and hopefully we have some on this board close by as I am looking to hopefully meet some and soak up input like a sponge!!
