I m new to reef central

Hello everyone I m Big Man and also new to tanking. I have a 46 gallon bow front saltwater setup which I m moving everything to my new 54 gallon corner bow front once my cycling is completed.

Hey everyone, I'm Jared. I've been stalking these and other forums for quite some time now and finally pulled the trigger on a Red Sea Reefer 350 (73G display tank).

I'm in the initial stages of getting everything setup, I feel like I'm somewhat book smart at this point but haven't really had a chance to put theory to practice.

No water in the tank yet so still have some cycling to do. I find it hard to reach out on forums when most of the information I need is already out there somewhere, but I'm hoping I can change that a bit and become a little more involved.

See you all around!

-Jared

Hi everyone! I'm coming back into the hobby after quite a few years off. I used to have a 12g eclipse tank with a betta, a few tetras and a couple of snails which lasted for years. Recently, my girlfriend decided to get a 10g kit for my girls which currently house a molly, a few ghost catfish and a couple of glofish tetras.

This piqued my interest again and I'm currently cycling a 10g fowlr for the first time. I will be starting a new thread to journal my account there. Wish me luck!

Hey everyone! I'm Rose! I'm a glass artist in a tiny town in north carolina.

Not new to reef tanks but took a few years off(to much moving around military stuffs anyway) Very happy to be back!

3 weeks in on cycling a 65 gal

Hey so im new to reefing. Actually didnt even start yet. Just looking for suggestions on my setup ideas. So i bought a 110 gallon corner flow already 48x18x30 tall. I have a 30 gallon tank looking at turning into my sump. I am plannaing on picking up a bubble magus curve 7, a kessil ap700. As for for the power heads and return pump i am looking for suggestions. Also is it worth putting a refugium? I know the sump is kind of small after the footprint the curve 7 is going to leave ? Any suggestions/advice is welcome thanks!

New to reef central

Hello all,

New to reef central. I'm still getting used to the website.. Do a lot of people use the Tapatalk app? I currently have a 240 gallon that's six months old. This winter when I upgrade my lights (going to get 3 hydra hd's, my tank is six ft long two and half feet high and two feet deep), I will begin getting corals, etc. I'm excited to join this forum and looking forward to speaking with you all. Also, I can't seem to upload photos, they keep failing to upload from my phone.. Any ideas?

Hi all this is Ponraj from India,

I have just started to built my reef tank with 120gl. I have cured the rock and started to get some green plants over the rock. Can anyone guide me how to increase my calcium levels. I was doing the below,
water parameters, pH-7.9 ; salinity-35 ; alkalinity-10dkh ; nitrate-0 ; phosphate-0 ; calcium is getting to purple only in 30th drop in test kit.
having - SRO 3000 skimmer ; chiller JBJ arctica ; bio pellet reactor with reef octopus bio pellet media and seachem matrix carbon both in it.
giving calcium dosing with Seachem reef advantage together with 5ml of vinegar, giving two times dosing per day for the last whole week. no change in calcium. seeing some changes in the rocks getting more green plants on it

Its too bad that the plant which i thought of grown in my live rock is green hair algae and now I am going to dose it with API algae fix marine as recommended in this forum. Can you any one guide me that, during the treatment whether can use my light, skimmer abd bio pellet reactor ?

The skimmer sometimes can take additives out if the water (depend on what it is). I usually shut the skimmer off whenever treating. I found the best solution to algae outbreaks is cuc and herbivorous fish. My yellow tang loves hair algae

Hi! I'm new to the hobby. Just getting started really as I'm trying to decide what type of tank I want to purchase. Not very mechanically inclined and weighing the pros and cons of getting an all-in-one set up or one to build. Interested to hear your opinions......

Not new to hobby but new to posting

Not new to hobby but new to posting

Hello everyone,
My name is Josh, I'm 37 years old I have a wife and son. I have been in the hobby seriously for 10+ years but had some pretty big breaks along the way. I currently running a 75 gallon acrylic (DIY) w/ stand (DIY), 2 Orbit 36" led strips, 20 gallon sump, skimmer reef stocked with 2 clowns, 1 yellow tang, 1 green chromis and 1 goby/pistol shrimp combo.

One of my euro braces recently broke at the seam so I picked up a used 210 glass with stand, sump, pump and lights. Currently working on refurbishing the stand and hood and modifying the tank for a custom drilled through wall setup. It came with a Dolphin pump 3900gph return, 40 gallon sump and the light set up is 8 ho t5's and two MH. I think I am going to use LED's though.

I have learned a lot from this site and will continue.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and experiences!

Hey everyone. Basically new to the hobby. I started a 25ish gallon freshwater tank about 12 years ago and life kinda got in the way... And a stubborn Jack Dempsey. It has been his domain for 12 years now and he's still strong.

Now I have time to dedicate to the hobby and am trying to decide between reef or fish only. Leaning towards fish only right now. One question I have is should I be able to see more than 3 or 4 topics in the fish only subforum?

Thank you for all of your help. I started reading humaguys thread last night, made it through 30 pages before bed. What a beautiful and inspiring tank. Look forward to reading the rest of it.
