If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Hi all, my name is Dominik, I am 21 years old from central Europe - Slovakia, full time uni student, working in a pet shop. I haven't yet own a saltwater aquarium but I have tried to collect all the knowledge from forums, books and videos - but still I will rather have someone to help then do it all by my own. I have already set up a tank, 10 gallons octagon shape tank, with dry rocks and live sand (very difficult to find a live rock here).

As far as I am a very beginner I will appreciate any help, comment or advice you are willing to give me with this new project of mine! I am extremely excited about this and I cannot wait to make it work properly! :)

Just starting out....

Just starting out....

Hello all,
Name is TauntingBeef, been looking for something to fill my time and always wanted to run SW. Anyways I'm now able to do so, so I am. After doing some research, I got 2 hand me down 55 gallon tanks.im focused on using just 1 for now. So here I am 2 tanks and that's it. LOL this week I will be making my first purchase. A BRS 4 Stage Value Plus RO/DI System - 75GPD. So my plan is to make my fish room first, So I can QT while I cycle. With all the information on RC, I hope I can make some educational decisions regarding running my tank. My main concern is my location. I live in New Mexico, We have a Petco and 2 freshwater only LFS. I want fish and I want corals, So this means the internet or a long drive. For fish who is good? And for corals how is Tidal Gardens been watching them on youtube for a bit?

Thanks and this seems like a good spot

New reef keeper, big responsiblity.

New reef keeper, big responsiblity.

Hey Reef Central.

I have just been given the responsibility of a 3000 litre, Fish Only aquarium onboard a 75m Super yacht.
I am just a simple Deckhand and the previous deckhand that took care of the tank left while I was on leave. I have just returned to work and have been given the responsibility of total care and freedom with practically no budget. I am really stoked and really want to do the best job I can as it is an amazing tank that could be even more amazing with just a little work.

Having no previous experience I thought this may be the best place to start and am hoping someone else may take a little bit of interest in the project I am working on too.

Basically the tank is 3000L(viewed from both sides), the sump is a 650L half full box which contains the protein skimmer and finally a 800L transfer exchange tank that is used to make new water for the tank.

From the very little research I have done already, I think I would most like to add a clean up crew and somehow incorporate some live rock to the tank.
Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks!

About a year ago we removed a 12" bristleworm and then 9mths after that removed 8" bristleworm... It's been about 9-10mths and I seen another one last night. Trying to find out what eats them or the best way to get rid of them ? Please help

Getting my feet wet

Getting my feet wet

Hello every one,

Jake here from Orange Park, FL. I am new to the hobby, just picked up a 90 gallon tank with a stand on a trade for a t.v. I am just starting to put my list together to start my build next year. So far I've got:

Photon 48 v2 for lighting
Vortech mp40qd x2
100lbs live rock
100lbs live sand
Undecided on skimmer as of yet.

The tank came with a sump but it's fairly small so I think I'll get a bigger one. Def. Will be around looking for some help as I continue this build. I like forward to the experience and wisdom that everyone here will be able to provide.

Thanks, Jake

From my past experiences an arrow can could do the trick should pull that sicker right out.

Hello - I am Dan and live in Denver. I have had freshwater tanks in the past and am now starting into reefing. I got a Red Sea reefer 450 as a starter tank. I am currently curing dried Fuji live rock in a new plastic garbage can...three more weeks until I hope it to be cured. I am very excited to get started and am glad there is a place like reef central with knowledgable and great members to help me get started into the hobby.

Hey all, been reading here for a while, and I'm starting to put together my first real reef build (220g sps dominant), so I figured it would be a good time to join the conversation. Have a few large freshwater tanks and a five year old 29g mixed reef with mostly lps.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums. When I was about 13 I got really into the hobby but I never had the money to get a real tank going. I did some poorly planned and implemented fresh water tanks. I'm 19 now, and I'm getting interested in the hobby again! My boyfriends also interested, so he'll be helping to choose some of the animals that'll be stocked. Excited to meet you guys and get some new advice and info!

Yo, have a 90 gallon fowlr setup for about 5 years. Was a member here in the past but lost access. I'm back now and I'm building a new 240g. Very excited. Thanks for having me back. Later

I've been posting, but I should probably introduce myself. I'm MuShu. I've had fish tanks on and off my entire life. I had an aunt who had a wall with eight 20 gallon planted tanks that I loved as a kid. I've been running a 29 gallon freshwater planted tank since December, and my oldest son (9) has a 5.5 gallon tank with a small fish and inverts.

A coworker gave me a 55gal recently and we decided to go with a reef as opposed to a larger planted tank. It's been a family project, but I do all the putting together and the maintenance. My husband and kids just tell me what they would love to have.

Hello, I am just getting started and have a 29g Coralife Biocube on the way. I figure it will allow me a nice slow start with room to grow. The military moves me around quite a bit so I anticipate having to restart every few years and don't want to lug a huge setup all over the world. Looking forward to the journey.

Hi All - Just getting into the hobby and looking forward to being a part of this community! Am planning by build and will post details, hoping to get some input and advice! Thank you!
