If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Greetings All.
My Fiancée Donna and I are brand new to the hobby and are looking to make it as trouble free and enjoyable as possible (for both us and our tank inhabitants). Between us we have 20+ years of freshwater experience (Africans & community) but realize much of that may not apply and that there is a host of things we have no idea about. I have several specific questions about 'goings on' in our tank but will do a bit of searching before asking them.
Thanks in advance for your help,
John

Hello, my name is Chris, my wife and I are in the process of putting together a 180 gallon mixed reef aquarium. Appreciate the wealth of information and help found in this forum. In our almost 20 yrs of marriage we have always been interested in having a saltwater aquarium and now finally taking the plunge.

newbie, here to learn

newbie, here to learn

Wanted to introduce myself, my name is Hugh, I have more then 20 years of freshwater experience. I finally gave it up and now would like to start a reef tank. Not sure what size tank it will be, still in the process of learning. I would like to get a tank that will give me the flexibility of starting with the easy corals and then perhaps adding some more advanced corals. Looking at some "easy" fish and some invertabrates.

Hi all im new to reef central. Im working on a rebuilding a 30g Uniquarium right now new pumps light and cleaning. Helped a friend for years he sold his tank. So then I bought a new tank and went salt about 3 years ago "was in to fresh water since I got my first tank when I was 10" but thing's went wrong. And now im starting over so far the tank is doing great but a lot more work to come. I have started a new thread on my light upgraed from t5ho to mh/t5ho!

I'm new to the aquarium world, but I just completed my Bachelors degree in Marine and Freshwater Biology so I am not new to the chemistry and algae lingo. I've always wanted my own personal reef community but have been apprehensive to start one. A few of my friends that are in my field have reef aquariums and encouraged me to go ahead and give it a go, afterall, I already have intense knowledge of fish, algae, the nitrogen cycle, and I have also performed actual research on reef degradation and invertabrate diversity in the coral reef ecosystem of Akumal Bay, Mexico. Maybe I can somehow add to the wealth of knowledge that exists on this site. Most of all, I am just here to learn. I have not actually started my tank yet because I feel that copious amounts of research needs to be done first, but I hope to build my reef around a Mandarin Goby so any advice is welcome if you know of other fish that will fit within my 30g parameters and will play nice with my Goby.

My name is Brett and I have had a saltwater tank for a little over a year. I have had some serious system crashes that have wiped out a lot of my corals and fish. I am basically starting fresh and want to use you guys for opinions and help. There isn't much help here in Las Vegas and all the prices too high to "experiment"! I have an 80 gal tank now with lots of live Rock. What's up everybody?

Hi

Hi

New to this forum and to owning a saltwater aquarium. Glad to be here and thanks for all the useful info. Kinda intimidating how much there is. I have always had a freshwater aquarium, but this is going to be a real adventure. I am excited about learning all I can and even more excited about all the possibilities of new fish! :)

Hello!

I am new in the reefcentral, and I have a 100G reef in Brasil!
Actually I am searching for new ideas here.

Hi All,
My husband Kevin and I wanted to get the kids (ages 2, 5) a pet and decided on fish. After a lot of research we decided to try our hand at a saltwater reef. Apparantly a guppy in a bowl just wasn't going to cut it with us. The kids would have liked it, but we wouldn't have.
We bought a used 29gl Biocube and are just starting it up this week. Wish us luck.

Hi, I have finally come back to the hobby after 6 years of absence. I kept salt water fish for about 30 years but have just started my reef project. I'm a month and a half into the process and looking good so far.

Happy to be a part of this great community.

Hey everyone. My name is Butch and have been lurking here for a while. I just have just started keeping a 5.5g pico reef (I know it is better to start off with a large tank when dealing with SW, but I like the challenge). I have been keeping fish on and off for as long as I can remember and currently have 4 FW tanks (80, 20L, 15 and 10 gallon), all cichlids. I live in middle Georgia and have met some great folks Atlanta Reef Club who have been pointing me in the right direction. My future plans are to turn my 20L into a second SW setup...I just need to figure out I want to put in it!

Hey folks!

Hey folks!

Nathan here. I've been poking around on these forums reading posts and what not for a while, just taking in all the great info. I have not yet done a saltwater aquarium but have had some good fortune recently to get a nice 150 gallon with, as far as I can tell, almost everything to give me a good start. Currently have a 10 gallon, a 10 gallon hex, and a 29 gallon freshwater. Also have another 10 and two 20s which I'm not doing anything with.......yet. :-)

Just wanted to introduce and say hey everyone.
