I'm having big fun now...390 display +

Here's the QT almost full. I will be visiting Emster on Thursday and then the frag swap at the TBRC meeting on 4/12. Should be full after that.

what are you feeding the corals in the frag tank? what is the filtration, i see a skimmer, and what is at the other end, some kind of power filter?

Carl

At the other end is a dual bio wheel without the wheels or media. I'll add carbon to it after the Interceptor treatments.
I feed Tropic Marin Pro Coral Zooton.

keep collecting frags, your gonna need to order a bigger tank.

oh yea,you have a sweet set-up.very well thought out.

I'm going to QT a few fish that I want in there (not all at the same time)...some Anthias, a Fridmani, a Thompsons Tang which I should have in a couple of weeks from a local reefer, and then leave the QT setup for corals and start hunting some specific pieces that I want.

No bio-media for the frag tank?
Not necessary. Bacteria will grow on every surface in the system, and the corals are a light load. I have a skimmer to remove waste and I change 5 to 10 gallons several times per week with the replacement water coming from the display.

Would your welder friend Jeff be open to some additional contract work? I'd like to have a hood rack built but don't know any good welders.

Sure, pm your name and phone # to poknsnok.

Just a few questions on the foam back. Just spray it on, anything you have to add after to "cure" it and what speed did you apply it? By the way it inspired me to do this to my new 180. Your tank looks awesome with it.

Awesome is not the correct work, breath taking is more like it. I have seen it in person a few times and I love his tank/setup. Great job planning that one out Mike.

Smoothie, thanks. Two of us sprayed it on, 12 large cans in about 20 minutes. It more than doubled in thickness over the next 12 hours.

Chris, thanks many times over. I'll be putting your LARGE purple digi frag in the tank on April 7.

Dave, last FTS was 5 weeks ago on page 27. I'll be moving the 60 frags from QT into the display on April 7 and 8, and I'll get another FTS after that.

I picked up 9 more frags yesterday from Emster, including an incredible Loripe and a Tyree Blue Chalice.
I'm going to try to post a list of everything I picked up in a couple of days.

No problem man, I hope you enjoy it. It grows like a weed so give it plenty of room to grow. Do I get the award so far for the largest frag donation?

It has a new name...LE Chrismhaase True Purple Digi.:D

I just read all 30 pages of this thread and I have to say good job. This tank holds so much promise and after a couple of years of coral growth, I believe it will be absolutely breath taking. Good job.

MDOG- this is going to be a tank of the month. Mike has done a ton of research and preparation. Now all he needs is growth. I give it 2 years, maybe 3 for complete grow out.

Thanks mdog. I worked in Miamisburg OH and went to Cinci many times while I was up there in the 80's. I'm a baseball fan and saw the Reds play many times. Our company seats were right behind Marge and Schotze. (Are you old enough to remember them?)

Just enjoyed a 4 day weekend spending a little time each day moving 56 frags from the 50 QT into the display. I ran out of putty, so I went to Aquarium Creations in Brandon to get some, and while I was there I picked up a 5 inch Deresa clam that someone just removed from their reef. I kept it in a bucket with a heater and powerhead until I finished moving frags and then acclimated it to the QT, where it is now. It looks real healthy. I'm going to scrub the shell and check it real close and keep an eye on it in the QT before it goes in the display.
I'll try to get some pics up this weekend.
