Installing RO/DI

I am planning on a air water and ice ro/di. I was wondering what is involved in its install. I am debating putting it under the sink and having it go to a 5 gallon bucket or putting it in the garage into a 20 gallon. So that means attaching it to the sink plumbing or the washing machine. Easy? Hard? IS there cutting of pipes?

uasually they come with the wa ter in which put a pin hole in the pipe for water in and a clamp around the drain pipe with 1/4 inch nut for drain
hot water tank is in the garage ??? use the cold for water in and put water out the wall
drill a hole
im off the rest of the week if u need help installing it

Thanx for the offer. I am actually going up there next week for work. Save on shipping that way. But I may take you up on that then if I cant figure it out.

But its easy to do?

Steve, it is easy depending on your accommodations and options you get with the unit. It could be as easy as connecting the unit to a garden hose connection and running the drain line into a sink.

lol i got my r/o unit a month ago and it just been sitting :p my problem is the one i got i plan to use it for drinking water too aswell as the ice maker so i guess i need a tee for that plus theres a seperate output for the reef water..... i have off till next weds so if i dont get it done i have no excuses .... at first it kinda confused me but now its just a matter of getting it done

"If your new TV is sitting on top of your old TV. You may just be a red neck."

Well technically I have three protein skimmers and 2 UV set ups that I just cant hook up. Had them for 2+ years.

Gasman thats not lamo thats busy.

Just a little tip. I purchased my 6st 0ppm 125gpd setup from www.purewaterclub.com for round $100. Works great. I installed it hanging on the wall next to my washing machine. Split the cold water line from the wall. the waste water from the rodi just goes down with the drain from the machine. Simple as i could think when working on a budget. Oh and when i fill up my 5 gal jug I usually forget it is filling so it is sitting on the washing machine lid and just overflows into the machine. No harm done. Good luck with your setup.

Wa-Wa-What? Your job is so easy that every time someone comes to see you they sleep.

Set up that RO/DI!

Set up that RO/DI!

It's the best thing I ever did since starting this addiction, I mean hobby. Try to set it up so it just auto tops off your tank. No more lugging water jugs around. Wheeeeee...

BTW, the gman didn't say your job was lame, he used an acronym meaning to laugh until one's behind falls off. LMAO

Don't use the pin type connection that simply pokes a hole into the pipe if you have other options. These can fail.

If you are going from a faucet then use a splitter right out of the cold water faucet.

Ditto. You can pick up a splitter at Lowe's, where all the John Guest fittings are next to the PVC tinkertoys.
