Is Ich Shield Chloraquine phosphate?

I am looking for Chloraquine phosphate and it is just not happening locally. I have called 4 vets in the area and an exotic pet vet that specializes in marine animals. None of them will write a script for Chloraquine phosphate, so I am forced to go to the internet. I have read that the eBay supplier is fake/not good so I'm not going that route. I have been told that Ich Shield is Chloraquine phosphate but reading the ingredients it doesnt say that. Is ich shield actually Chloraquine phosphate or is it fake garbage? Where can I get this stuff???

Thanks. I ordered a 50g bottle but I think I'm going to hold on to it. I'm going to try other methods before I go the chemical route.

Try the Ich shield pellets too. If your fish will eat it, it should be cheaper than the powder.

I've had some fish eat it, some fish don't.

You know I almost bought the pellets, but after reading a lot of fish won't eat it I decided to get the powder. I also thought that taking all the coral/inverts out and trying to hypo the DT would be a lot less stressful on the fish. I read a bunch of horror stories with CP and fish dying so I'd like to try other methods before going the chemical route.

I recommend to stay with powder - I had an ich covered fish fully eating only the pellets for weeks with no real improvement. I had to switch methods to cure him. This could be just the one fish somehow it didn't work, but now I don't have much faith in the pellet version.

The powder is the only way to treat your fish. The food HAS to be eaten and eaten for weeks on end to have any effect on ich in a tank. The powder is recommended for treatment for 21 days but I have used it for 10 days to successfully cure ich

For that duration, you have been lucky. While CP is great for velvet, the extended back end of the life cycle can cause problems.

For the record I suggest following the directions per NLS

Sure. However, even their intended duration uses the "recommended therapeutic time" of twice the average life cycle. That will fail occasionally (for ich although not for velvet).

Yeah I have the CP powder now but reading up on it more got me really nervous. I'm taking what I think is an easier approach and trying hypo in the DT. If I had the tank to hold everything for the fallow period I would do TT, but I don't have a tank big enough or the room for it. I'm hoping hypo gets rid of it.

I would do a mix of CP and TTM
1. Transfer into ich free HT
2. CP Treatment for 2 weeks
3. Transfer into an ich free holding/observation tank

But what do I do with the display then? The problem is the 11-12 weeks I have to hold tangs for..I can't have them in 10g tanks

I use 10g tanks for TTM and hospital (lot less water and chemical dosage). I have a 40g breeder for larger fish (like tangs) for the observation time during quarantine. I've not had issues with them housed in the breeder for that amount of time.

the biggest tank I have right now is a 10g. I have 2 50g brutes but thats about the same amount of swimming space so thats out too.
