Yes, you're just a nerdy alcoholic. ;)

This thread is hilarious. Thread of the month material for sure.

The problem with this hobby is that its extremely addicting and highly time demanding, leading others to believe that your a geek or nerd because they don't understand your fascination with a fish tank.

Anyone that's anal about their "hobby" is a geek.
To be successful in this hobby, then you need to be anal.

Therefore:
Yes, we are geeks.

Maybe I missed it, but has anyone mentioned that you might be a geek if you visit forums about reef tanks, or even worse if you have a post count of more than...I dont know maybe 527:D

I never wondered if I was a geek or nerd until I read this thread, the more of it I read, the more confused I have become. The only logical conclusion I have been able to come up with, is that I'm another "normal" reefer.

awesome thread. my friends call me a geek because i spend a little bit of money on my tank and a couple hours on it a week. but then i train jiujitsu 5x's a week 3 hours a day and they dont say anything about it. maybe i am a geek who just happens to have cauliflower ears.

its funny when people find out that im into saltwater tanks and reefs. they sure dont expect it, lol.

want the simple answer? ask your teenage kids, more often than not the answer will be a resounding yes,

im still paying for the fact that i mentioned infront of my step daughter that i was part of a few online fish clubs. she came to me asking about a science project for school,

me. well yes i have a few projects i was going to work on an if you help....

her. this doesnt involve the fish tank does it?

me. :l

i used to be cool, bass player/singer of a death metal band, sex drugs and rock and roll, partying till the sun came up on the 3rd day, now i have a desk job and a fish tank and according to my kids im a nerd

oh and in this ever changing economy, well, i can only say that my "investment" in my reef, will only bring in more money, when I am ready to frag or get rid of stuff...right???
