Is this the exciting future of Live Rock? Must See!!!

Yeah, but Richard doesn't deserve that.

+1

Nor does Walt. While he is for profit, he's doing a ton of good for hobbyists and conservation through mariculture and reef restoration.

And let's make something incredibly clear. Pukani is live reef that is being removed from the ocean just so we can enjoy our hobby. It's a matter of time before that comes to a halt. As it should. Just like how real Tonga Branch was banned.

So like it or not, the future is man made or quarried rock.

Product looks really cool. I am setting up a tank in the next few weeks and i am really thinking about this route.✌️

We have a winner !!!

We have a winner !!!

Yes like has been mentioned several times, Walt Smith dies sell this rock before it goes into the ocean to suppliers who want dry rock like you LFS.

That SHOULD have been the first answer to my thread and would have answered the ugly rocks comment. I did see the turd rock and it looks ............................. not impressed. I would LOVE to see the live turd rock in person.

Why not order some rock from Richard at TBS so that you can have an accurate understanding of the transformation the rock goes through while in the ocean. You will be pleased. In other news, change the subject [emoji3]

videsilva,

Whether or not you have gotten your answer, you owe Mr. Richard at TBS an apology for your behavior on this thread.

And yes, a subject change now thank you.

Mark

ok now it's getting to the point of "LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE"

I think Richard wears some big boy pants and can handle the unfounded criticism.

This is my piece, I picked it up from Richard over a year ago. Hidden cup corals and a Christmas tree worm. It was free algae and loaded with red coraline, sponges and what looks like tunacates. I added the algae

I spend a silly amount of time each week staring at the life that came in with the TBS rock. Last night, I found a red crab that is so large that I couldn't believe I never saw it before. At first, I thought that I needed to get it out of my DT. But I watched it move around for a while and it was just eating algae. It grabbed the shell of a snail and ate the algae on it. After doing some research, I'm pretty certain that it is a red mithrax crab. It is very red. I showed it to my wife and she loves it. I tried to take a cell phone picture of it, but the pictures weren't any good. I'll try again with my regular camera.

I also found a stone crab, which I was able to get out pretty easily.

Tunicates: yeah I think every load of rock I have seen has had a new form of them...
some are like glass jewels, some are more opaque and look more like a sponge on the rock, others are jumbo-sea-squirts. you just have to look for pairs of syphons one large one smaller.

Man Made Rock

Man Made Rock

Ok, so I went out today and picked up a two pound man make rock.

How many days, week, months or years will it be before I see the " magic " on the " turd rock " ?

How long does lt take for life to CLING to this " MAGIC ROCK ? ?

Live Rock

Live Rock

My tank is fairly established with various sponges etc. I will let you know in time if this is indeed a magic rock or just another rock story.

I have no idea where everyone else lives or if you are limited to aquarium stores. It sounds as if some people here are looking at live rock for the first time ???

I will take a picture for everyone to see when I get around to it. I will update in a month or so after :(

OH ! I will soon have 20 posts......... YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!

videsilvia,

If you want to talk about dropping dry man made rock into a tank, and it's progression. You need to start to a new thread, as it has no relevance to LR aquacultured in ocean.
