i2ik, Thanks my friend. How is your tank coming along? I've been waiting to see some updates!

Jeremy, I really appreciate the positive comments. I was also looking into the Bilux, but I read somewhere it was a heat issue with 2 400w bulbs. I was planning to have a 20k and a 10k in that fixture without the use of Actinic's. Therefore, I waited for the Spectra. I also love T5's. I get the best of both worlds now having T5's and MH's. I never knew they could sell you the fixture without ballasts. Thats very interesting.

GSM, as soon as I get these wires cleaned up. Im at work today and plan to stop by Home Depot to buy some wire extensions. The T5 wires are very short!

Getting back on it this week, only one final left!!! My missing light should also come in the end of next week!

Well i just finished ordering 2 ATI Blue Plus T5 bulbs. This is what I had in my last tank for yrs and loved them. I will be replacing the Giesemann Blue Plus. The reason why I dotn like the Giesemann Blue plus is because it gives off a white color (15K). I dont like this because the MH's provide this color already. Whats the need for 2 extra white T5 bulbs? I'll be looking for the URI actinics next. Going to see how the Giesemanns look with the ATI first. :)

Mike, thats a good idea. When are you getting your tank? Did you order it? Glass or Acrylic? You should see the rimless bowfront over here. That would look nice at your place! By the way, your crazy with the 400's! but I guess I cant say too much since the Italians run it this way also. :)

Treg, I cant really judge my 250's right now as its still breaking in. Like Alicia said, it may be that I was so used to the spotlights for a while now. I still think its too bright! LOL. :) The cool thing is that I turned on the left and right side and not the middle and it was still plently of light for the 250's. No dark spots. Come by my house and I will show you. What does retro mean?

i2ik, what was missing?

Alicia, I remember. When I saw the spectra, I knew that was what I needed. Nothing out there was what I REALLY wanted. I waited and sure enough it came through. Hopefully you will make a good decision soon. Teasing promotes interaction. :)

Ed,
I am going to get Elos rimless tank with speacial clear glass they use..
I use 400w since day one:)) I think 250w is to dim for my eye:))) but thats me... If i can fixture without ballast i can always c/n to 250w... I've heard Elos -400w bul;bs is great...I am with EVC right now and T-5's suplm.

Ed,

Superb tank and setup ! :)

I have two Giesemann Nova II 150w DE HQI with the same 13k MegaChrome bulbs and I love them !

Here's what I did for T5 supplementation:

2 - AquaScience Blue 22k - 39 watts
2 - UVL Super Blue Actinics - 39 watts

The AquaScience T5 are incredible !

They are the exact same size mogul base, so any 175, 250, or 400 SE bulb will work in this socket. You can then use the ballast that is supplied with the Giesemann hood, or you can purchase the hood without the ballasts and run any ballasts you want with it.

Where can this hood be purchased Jeremy?

Sorry to sidetrack Ed, but you know there's a lot of excitement in the air.

Now you see what I mean about super bright? No dark areas at all on this 40" wide tank. The only other thing I have seen that I dislike is how the light escapes on the left and right side of the tank. The front and back is perfect because it has the angled T5's which block it. One thing I did on these pics is I blacked out the stand so you guys wont see some of my temporary white PVC. ;) Thats how the stand will look anyways :)

now that is amazing i have been waiting for that for 29 pages :) i dont think its too bright and the light spilling is the cost of doing buisness. :)

soooooo sleeek :)

I love how open your tank looks. Beautifully doneââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦ Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve been following your thread from the beginning and I am very impressed with your design. You are very thorough in your planning.

You purchased the same light I am planning on getting for my tank just a few months ahead of me. I am interested to see how much you like it after a few weeks. The only other light I like is from Sfiligoi.

That is nice looking! Can you make a tank like that for something like a 30 cube with no powerheads showing? How exactly did you do that with no equipment showing, heaters, skimmer etc in the sump but where is your water flow from?

Thanks.

Tank looks amazing! not to bright in my opinion it looks great

your tank looks very sleek your planning and attention to detail truly shows through

You can definitely do that. Flow is shooting straight up on 2 outputs from the closed loop. The other is now on a chiller and shoots behind the rocks across the overflow area. From the pic below, it shows you where the closed loops holes were drilled which is only on the bottom PVC plate. The rocks cover the holes.

All I can say is WOW. Definitely one of the best setups I've ever seen. Impressed is an understatement.

There aren't words to describe how badass you tank is. I've been waiting "patiently" for the light and I can't wait to see this thing in a few months. Well done!! This will be TOTM in no time.
