Jcr's Rimless

Tank has been doing real well. I hate to tear it apart here in the next few months to move it to our newly built house. It's going to be a P.I.T.A. but worth it. There will be many changes to the design, although this setup has run absolutely flawless. I plan to build a small sump room (est..10 foot closet) in my new garage. I also need to come up with an idea so fish stay in my tank. All the fish I have lost since the setup has been due to them jumping out.
Sorry I haven't updated pics in a while even though I'm on here all the time. I'll have to snap a quick shot sometime this week to see how differently it looks.

I've been looking at those Hamilton pendants for my new 150g, and was wondering what you thought about the moon light feature included on the mh pendant? Do the moon lights have a separate plug or switch for independent control?

Hi there Josh, you've got a really nice tank setup there. I love Rimless tanks. :)

Can I ask is your tank glass 12mm thick or thicker than that?

Also what method of overflow/plumbing are you using? It looks like you have a standard Durso, but I'm not sure?

Thanks.

The moon lights do have a separate plug, but I wouldn't buy these just for the moon lights. The way I have mine mounted the light stays along the back wall and its somewhat concentrated. Its still a nice add though. The reflectors give off good light and the cable the pendants are held by are easily adjustable. All in all a good pendant.

The bottom of the tank is 3/4" and then I had it tempered after the holes were drilled. The sides are 1/2". Still a very heavy tank. My drain is the standard durso and it does great. With the cover I built for the overflow I cant hear the drain pipe at all.

Wow, I always thought that was rediculously expensive. I've never really looked into having a sheet of glass tempered but have read that it's not very economical to have a smallish piece of glass tempered. Without getting into details, was it extraordinarily expensive to have that done?

Brain fart... I went with 3/4" on the bottom so I could stay away from tempered glass just incase I decided to drill more holes later on. Way too many tanks:spin2:

LOL, I hear ya. I have a few tanks that are empty that I keep making plans for in my head and have trouble keeping what I'm actually doing in my current tank separate from my "planning" stages that I have in my head.

Here are some pics as promised. The coral isn't as colorful as it was a couple of months ago because I have been extremely busy and have neglected it for awhile. Plus I just remodeled our current kitchen so a lot of debris ended up in the tank (hence the algae). I'm sure it'll bounce back once I get my hands wet regularly again and start doing water changes and such once we move and settle in. I did clean the tank yesterday though lol

New Baby Lavender Tang

It's a love hate relationship with rimless tanks. I have had several fish jump out, mainly wrasses and gobies. My latest carpet surfer was my female flame wrasse. I'm in the process of putting a materials list together (literally) to make a screen top so my fish can stay wet

Went ahead and ordered some 1/4" clear screen. I'm going to hate covering my tanks, but I think I'm going to love saving money and my fish. Shouldn't be too noticeable.
