Jebao Cross Flow Pump

Thinking about purchasing these pumps for my jbj 45 should I go with the CP 25 or get the CP 40 and run it at low settings?

The 40 will be way too much in a 45gallon tank. I ran the 40 on my 90 gallon and it was almost too much. I recently switched back to my pp8 which are perfect for my tank.

I bought it from my local fish store and have no idea where they got them from. It lasted about 3 months before [profanity] the bed. I'd like to fix it and sell it don't really trust it anymore after that.

Maybe the manufacturer/supplier could send the store a replacement for you? I'm thinking ours was from an early batch with an issue that's since been fixed. It was almost as if my seller expected the problems and had replacements on hand. Best of luck!

Cord should be coming out the top..

That depends... On which diagram you look at and which way the sticker is stuck on! :lolspin:

Mine were first generation and everything shows cable at the bottom. They also seemed to perform much better this way, with a notable difference in flow of one was set one way and he opposing, the other.

I'll check which way round the V3 motors are that they shipped to me as I can't remember without looking.

I run two cp-40's in a 4x2x2. The highest I would ever go is 30%, typically scaled back to 20%!

PS: just checked, cables should exit the bottom of the motors.

I am looking to pick one of these up right now for by jbj 45 is there a Specific seller I should buy from? Just making sure there isnt a revised version out there that I am going to potentially miss out on.

I've had mine from one of hte first batches. (CP-40), still running it at 100% W2 on my 180. I clean it now and then by simply wiping my hands across the intake/exit grills. No issues thus far, I've never taken it apart.

I will say the ramp up/ramp down is noticeably louder than my RW-15 and always has been. not a mechanical sound but an electric motor sound.

I have mine connected to an Apex with no issues.

By that do you mean the apex is controlling power to the plug socket via the power bar or that you have integrated the controller?

AFAIK, the apex/Jebao controllers are not compatible (as tested by a few) and result in damage as the controlling electronics in the cross flows are in the controller, not the pump itself as with the RW's.

Would be great to hear what you have done. Mine are currently controlled on/off with the apex on the plug bar.

Got the red light of death again with the new motor/impellers. I'm sending the defective ones back to the seller for a complete replacement. If this one craps out, I may have to go with the Gyre :/ I really want one that works - the flow is great as is the price.

Oh no! And here I was hoping that nobody besides Maxspec would ever build something as cool as this.

Have had my CP-40 for about a month now, loving it. Thinking of getting an aqualink t1, anyone have one? How do you like it? Worth it? Can't find much for reviews on the aqualink t1.

I bought one. Also use it with CP-40 which I love. The Aqualink T1 has issues.

Reef mode does not work. After selecting this mode it will run for a few minutes then the pump will lock up and start shaking. You have to unplug the pump and choose a new mode.

Pulse mode does not work if you change the time interval. If you change the pulse time interval it never comes back on. Again, you have to unplug and choose another mode to restart.

Gyre mode does not alternate fwd/reverse like the basic controller.

Intensity of all modes except Normal and Reverse are not adjustable.

I have not played around too much with the programmable function because I do not trust it and I do not have 24 hours to babysit it and see if it will just lock up.

I used it on Nature mode in 90 gallon soft/lps tank and its OK but it could really use a little more flow. The reef mode would be perfect, but it does not work. Every day or so I use normal and reverse modes cranked up to blow off detritus. The only reason I am still using it is that the pump is dead silent in this mode with the T1.

They did send me an email about a firmware update but I have to send it to China which probably isn't going to happen. This update may have fixed these issues but I cant say and I would recommend you save your hard earned money until it can be verified that it works as it is supposed to.

I have the same setup as you...the Apex is controlling the on/off function of the pump.

Damn, for a minute I thought you'd found an Apex interface... :). Thanks for clarifying.

What does your schedule look like? Are you running them at night or is the tank flat calm until first light?

Sorry to hear this. I went with the Jebao as I didn't want all the issues with the Gyres. Hopefully it's sorted now. Make sure they are sending you the V3 parts, I qualified it twice with Eric @ Fish Street to ensure this was done. So far (touch real oak cabinet), they're performing flawlessly since the V3 motor switch.

I've not heard good things at all on the Aqualink T1. I have actively avoided due to the issues (and the fact I want integration with the Apex). I have mine set on W3 at opposite ends of the tank and they perform really well without need for programs (feed mode and overnight power off is achieved with the Apex power bar).

I do run them at night, nothing fancy yet...I use the W3 setting at the 3rd LED light power-wise.

Fingers crossed I get V3! Good to hear yours are doing great. I love this pump and I'm bummed about the bad luck I've had with them.

I'll probably be selling my CP-25..
Its just too loud/annoying for me at full power.. I can hear it all over my downstairs/while watching TV,etc.. (My house is QUIET.. Could hear a pin drop across from a room over)

I am done with the crossflow. The seller sent me a replacement for the 1st one. The replacement worked for a week. He offered a replacement if I sent the 2 broken ones back at my expense, so I agreed as long as it was new. I received an opened pump that failed in 5 hours. I ordered a Gyre.
