Jebao DCP return pump?

Do these pumps still have the slow start up feature of the prior generation Jebao DC pumps? Doing a little research on pumps for a Lifereef 24 skimmer. Any info is much appreciated.

I'm using the 6500 on my Lifereef 24 skimmer. Works great with plenty of power. I run it on full power then tune the output of the skimmer to adjust it.

What's it drawing at full blast in watts? Also, are you running the stock or the Mazzei venturi on your 24?

Yes, these new DCT pump's are pretty nice for the price. I wonder what they will come up with next as far as features go. The other models i've had go bad after two years and some are still going strong after two yrs. Overall I am very pleased and will still recommend and use for future projects. Not to mention nearly every skimmer manu is now using jebao pump's, or rebranded jebao pump's.

I am looking to get either the DCP 6500 or 8000. Does anyone know the dimensions on these pumps? Are they both the same size? Thx I am trying to design my sump and want to make sure I leave enough room.

They are both the exact same size. I have both and running them currently. Great pumps! Go with the 8000. 10 bucks more and pushes lots of water at low power. I went with the 6500 first and regretted not getting the 8000. Ordered one 3 weeks later and moved the 6500 to my quarantine system.

I ordered a dcp-8000 from Amazon, received a 5000. The sticker on the box says 8000. They are sending me a new one tomorrow.

Thx ddanis. I was debating whether I should get the 8000 or not. Makes sense to have the power available and run it at lower power. I am guessing you have 1" PVC hardpiped in.They look to be about 4" wide. Is that right?

Jebao DCP return pump?

my return is all 3/4. i need to update it but everything works perfect as is so im not sure that i will. I have the 8000 pushing about 8' of head plus about 3-4' horizontal distance from my basement. also inline are 2 40's that are in the basement with the sump. I run the 8000 at 80% and it feeds the entire system, half of which is a floor up. when a few valves are turned, the two 40's are a separate system fed by the 6500 in a lower sump on the basement floor. I will say that with just the 90 display and the sump by itself, the 8000 is pushing the same amount of water at 58% / 31 watts that the 6500 was pushing at 84% / 47 watts. I run the 8000 at 80% when the entire system is opened and flowing. hope all that makes sense.

How is that 6500 working for you being in the basement? I am fixing to build a new manifold to run 2 reactors my algae scrubber and my tank on my reefer 250. If my current pump (Reef Octopus VarioS-6) can't push the water needed I'm looking to replace it with either the DCP6500 or 8000.

Thanks!

sorry i never saw your question. see my post above.. but to answer, both the 6500 and 8000 are working great!

I'm really tempted by one of these pumps but I've been burned by both of the previous two Jebao items I bought. The WP10 I bought from Fish street went out within 2 weeks and the WP40 I tried a couple years later off ebay went out within another couple of weeks. But the price!

Very helpful ddanis. Thx. Would you say that the 8000 is still pretty quiet running at 80%?

I don't have the best hearing, but at any speed I've had it at or tested, it was 100% inaudible to me. Both pumps. The mj1200 on my duel reactor can be heard tho and they are in the same sump compartment.

Safety shutoff

So im thinking of getting either the 6500 or the 8000 for my new build (SCA 80 gallon)

And there are 3 reasons i was thinking of using a DC pump

1. Adjustability
2. Quiet
3. Safety shutoff

I want the safety shutoff so if my drains ever get plugged, my pump turns off when the return pump chamber empties. This will keep my freshwater top off tank from emptying into the return pump chamber and flooding my tank.

Can anyone tell me how fast the pump turns off if it senses low water? and does it stay off until manually reset?
