Jebao powerheads... never again

So I'm done with Jebao...... and switching to the Coral Box QP's.
:hmm3::hmm3::spin2::headwalls::hmm3::hmm4::hmm4: too funny...

Hey Jebao.. This is Fish Street.. Will you rebrand your products for us.. Sure.. We shall call them coralbox.. (sorry I know.. bad impression.. Needed more "Engrish")

i have friend bought them when they first come up, 3 years now still up and kicking. almost never vinegar clean. because of such good luck, he bought 2 new one for his others tank, both died within 6 months. yeah the old stuff is much better quality then the new gen.

true. if only there was an independent testing body that could provide real quality data.

Yeah, mean-time-to-failure data on these things would be most helpful. Otherwise it's just anecdotal experiences off sample sizes without statistical significance .... which is in part why the debate goes around and around and around.

 +1

This debate goes round and round because there are those that have the product and it works just fine and those that have had them fail and everyone puts in their experience.. plain and simple..

As Ron stated Jebao for the most part (like many other companies) doesn't put out the "best" product first go around.. But they are refining all the time and the product quality/reliability increases with each "revision" to it..

I will bash a Jebao WP series till the cows come home..I had one.. It crapped out quickly.. I will turn right around and recommend a PP series any day.. I have a few.. They are all doing great and have lasted through 2 tanks now and still going strong..

We all have opinions.. We all have budgets... needs/wants..,etc...
I personally do not want to drop hundreds of dollars on a powerhead... But I don't want to throw money in the trash either.. Live and learn.. I've learned that Jebao is capable of producing a decent product but its not going to be a generation 1 version that I buy..

Er..... isn't that what I just said?

There's a pretty high end reef only store that sells everything including jebao near me. All of his tanks have the jebao power heads. I own 2 of their poweheads with wave makers and I run them through my Apex. No issues yet, knock on wood. I've had more expensive brands fail in the past. That being said I'd NEVER run their dosers. Too much riding on it...

I have had 2 WP-10s working for years now. No issues and barely need to clean them.

Had an old WP-20 laying around gave it to a friend for his tank and he loves it and it still works great even after 2 years of no use laying in my garage.

Maybe their old stuff was better.....

I bought a jebao sw-2 and after 6 months it's stuck in perpetual spin never has any wave mode any more, can this be fixed or should I just be happy it still works at all?

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the PP series the latest model of the Jebao Wavemakers?

I've had a PP-8 for a year and another for 8 months. I turn them off every time I feed, so twice daily (minimum). Never had an issue with them (knock on wood).

Just wanted to share my story... I've gone through 3 of these powerheads in two years. They just burn out on me... I do switch them on and off frequently, but that shouldn't kill them if you ask me.

Anyone have any suggestions on better brands?

you went through 3 of them and it still cost you less than a replacement piece of a vortech pump.

also i've been using them for years and have never had to replace a single pump... the only time i've switched them out is when i upgraded or downgraded my tanks. i think i've had 3 different sets... all the way to the first jebao ever put out.

OW series is the latest as of September.
I've had a RW that is over 3 years old and a PP that is a year and half with zero issues. I switched over to the latest CP-40 and gave those to a buddy to run in his tank, still going strong.

SW is newer than PP.. OW is newer than SW and PP..

IF a train leaves China carrying an OW going at 65km/h heading due east and betty brought an apple in her lunch box then which pump is better?
