Jebao WP40, a knockoff, yet getting a lot of attention lately!

Oh Boy... It just walked in with the PostMan as part of the mail delivery. Can't wait to open it up and see.... but patients will have to come first.....

OK. Patients are done. Unpacking and taking some pics prior to heading home. Will have more time to place it in the tank later this week for first impressions.

How long did it take to get it?

Hey bud -

I ordered on the 25th of March , shipped out the following day by Hong Kong Post, then there was a delivery attempt on the 30th of March, but my office was closed on that day, so it got delivered yesterday in the afternoon when USPS showed up with the rest of my mail.

It stated that it could take several weeks, and if shipped via Europe or UPS, then 2-5 working days. However this pumo shipped from Hong Kong, and still would have got here within the same week, had I ordered on a Sunday, LOL!

I ordered one and got it within a week or so. Don't have my new setup ready yet, so I can't tell you if I like it.

So did you test it yet? What are your thoughts?

I'll have some basic footage loaded up later tonight or so. I will tell you that the pump is fairly built. I cannot compare to the highly touted Tunze 6105 pumps, as I have no references as that goes.

The pump is huge, and really cranks! It is a fairly simple design, but maybe it has something to do with the angle of curvature of the impeller within the fixture that allows it to move the volume of water that it does?

As you saw in the previous photo size-wise you can compare to a standard Microsoft wireless mouse.

I placed it in the tank this morning during some downtime, and removed my two supplemental Koralia 1050 in the rear of the tank.

Turned this sucker on, and I could tell that the softy corals were realy stressed out and the smaller fish were freaking out. The large blue Tang is loving the flow, so that's cool. I will say that the SPS polyps have extended a bit more (in my humble opinion) although this is purely subjective and may be due to the fact that the poylps are "waving" more than just with the 2 Vortechs and 2 Koralias going.

What does get me nervous about this WP40, is that the flow is VERY strong, and I do not want what happened to Joel's (iriejp1) tank to happen to me - crack in the tank maybe due to too much flow?. This is because I do have a relatively small tank lengthwise.

As a matter of fact, I will be keeping the setting at the ELSE mode, which is supposed to be closer to Vortech's ReefCrest mode, since I am still running both Vortechs to help with the water turbulence. The WP40 run at maximum is capable of cranking out over 3400 GPH (3434 GPH after converting 13000LPH).

What is the best way to upload footage besides Youtube?

Here's a couple of short videos to help illustrate how the WP40 worked in my tank, when I placed it in service this morning.

I was worried the flow would be too strong, so I purposely angled the pump's (placed in the right rear) stream towards the left center rock pile and overflow plastic to help blunt the water force.

To say the least, I am VERY pleased with what this basic pump can do!

Art, you need more corals on that thing. Looks bare. Get a couple of frag packs from yourreef or something. I can probably clip a few monti and give you some for free.

Like the set up Art. Just ordered mine-thinking about putting them in the same spots.

I'm still tweaking the angles to play with the flow so that it's just right...

Art, they look nice how loud are they?

I also like to know the sound difference.

Actually, as I do not have a reference to the Tunzes (which everyone wants to know), I can't tell you. However, I do have a reference to the MP40's that I have, and the Vortechs are definitely louder than the WP40, especially when the speed on the Vortechs approximate the towards 80-90% of maximum speed, and this is comparing to the quieter MP40 of the two that I have.
Everything is housed in the equipment room, so it is really hard to tell from a decibel point of rating. With the T5 fixture fans going in addition my two skimmer pumps and two return pumps running at the same time, it's really hard to tell. I do feel that once I get into LED light fixtures this summer, I will eliminate the T5's and the chiller, and that will cut down on noise. However, that will be more of an energy savings thing instaed of a noise level issue for me, since we have ambient music that is being piped in throughout the office. In addition, there is a ventilation fan that is running 80% o the time in the fish room, so there's noise from that. I would say the best thing to do, is if you are in the Roseville area, just feel free to drop by and hear it for your self when the office is open. Nothing beats hearing it for yourself instead of taking someone elses word for it. The selling point for me on this pump (so far) has been eliminating 2 supplemental Koralias, and dialing down my Vortechs since adding in this WP40. :bounce3:

Ha Ha, I know right? I have been neglecting the tank from a stocking aspect, and have been so busy with the office and being out of town teaching, that I will admit, that it is quite embarassing! I couldn't even make it to Aquarium Depot's soft opening! :mad2:

Art, how are you running your pumps right now? All three concurrently?

Before the WP40 was in the picture:
2 X Koralia 1050s running at full power
2 X MP40's running at 90% to full power Reef Crest

Now with the Koralias out of the picture and with the WP40 in the tank:
During the day, W1 mode and at night when I leave for the day, ELSE mode.
MP40's running at 70-75% Reef Crest

The way I have the APEX controlling them is that the Vortechs shut off from 3 am to 6 am. I plan to have an extension from the controller to the light sensor and have that mounted so that it will see when my last T5 shut down for the night at 7pm, so that the WP40 will cut down its default low setting.
