Jebao WP40, a knockoff, yet getting a lot of attention lately!

Well, it's made the 48 hour mark. If I can get 3 to 4 more years of this thing, I'll be pretty happy. ...
Withthe exception of a blue-green chromis, everyone in the tank has adjusted well to the big increase in flow.

just placed my order for two of them... couldn't resist after seeing them work on Art's tank... hahahha

I'm sure you'll like them!

Definitely more quiet than the mp40, but not as quiet as the tunze 6105. Here's a video of just one wp40 on making waves. A little spillage. :)

Hey Steve -

Nice vid. The Tunze owners will defintiely appeciate your feedback on that one. So you ended up getting two? I decided that I would hold on to my Vortechs. Sentimental value, you know? The three of them make crazy water movement within a four footer.

Just got mine, and have to say it is quieter than a mp40 louder than Tunze prob about the same as a mp10 at 80% or so.

As far as power it makes some nice waves, built pretty well but magnet is pretty weak. I am sure rare earth magnets are not being used.

Overall for the price is pretty nice!

I hadn't thought about the magnet. You're right. I just figured pressing the pump as close to the glass to get some form of suction prior to placing the magnet, and it seems to be fine.

What mode do you like the best so far?

I like the W1, it was the reason why I bought it. I had small waveboxes and large waveboxes and the emptying and filling of box was unbearable noise wise in my living room (where the tank is). Vortecs were too loud too, I have always used
Tunzes and prefer them just on that criteria alone. I do like the broad flow of vortecs so I have a couple of mp10's on my 90 reef. I did use 2x6205's but sold those and will be buying the 6255's when they are in stock.

Bryan, I'm with you. I still think Tunze's are the best all around pump on the market. I've been debating getting either a new 6055 or 6105 to replace my 6045 that's behind my rockwork where I used to have another 6055.
I've been watching this thread to see if I should be tempted to sway. I'm finally at the point where I'm tired of the noise from my tank so I might be ready to change things up; might.

Lawrence,

Set the group buy up, I will take 2 ;)

Mark,

I'm telling you, prune the corals and you will get better flow. Best option and cheapest ;) plus I will still have that piece for you.

I tried out the new pump. It does move a ton of water, the wave is cool but the noise is unacceptable to the boss. I don't mind it as it reminds me of the vortechs I used to have but when the boss says "that pumps gotta go..." well it's gotta go.

Max

Oh no you havent had it for 24hrs.... Tell her its quieter on a larger tank:)

lol, I took it out of the tank. Gavin asked if he could use it for his 29gal tank. I was tempted to put it on his 29 and watch the waves bc he doesn't care about noise but the boss shot that down as well. pretty much a no go for me.

Overall, the pump is good for 100$. It moves a ton of water, has a built in controller, and is pleasing to the eyes. There is a slight humm to the pump. If you've never had tunze's before you wouldn't even know. If you're coming from vortecs, it would def be less noisey. I've had the mp40wes and that was loud. When I say loud, loud as you watch tv and can hear the mp40 go "whroom whroom," those who have vortecs knows exactly what i'm talking about. the $350 tunze 6105 i have doesn't make the waves that this 100$ pump make. I might not have my apex configured incorrectly for the 6105 to make that wave but where it is currently at, i'm ok with.

Again, for $100 you can't go wrong. If i didn't have the tunze's and I had vortecs, this would be a possible upgrade as you could buy 4 of these to 1 vortec mp40. It moves more water and the "else" mode varies the water movement. Practically similar to the mp40.

In my opinion it is the following [I'm not a pro just a hobbyist]:

Quiet Loud
Tunze>Jebao>Vortec

Price per watermovement
Jebao > Tunze > Vortec
