Got mine running for 24 hours now...

Ive had mine running for about 24hrs now and the gunk has begun to form. Great so far I ran a ball valve to control the flow and I am also running it out of sump and so far no complaints would recomend the product to everyone. My friends has a ASM and spent like 300 bucks on it and would make fun of my decision on a Jebo but now im laughing when I have extra money and can buy more corals lol well take care everyone.

i am new to these types of skimmers could someone give me some info on what i will need to set this up. i am moving my 55 into a 75 when i move. and i am looking to make this a out side the sump skimmer cause i don't have the room for it in the sump.

Iv'e had one of those in my sump for a while

Currently its being driven by two aspirating mj1200's. One recirculates, the other one feeds... Its been pulling some gunk!

I'll try n get some photos of it.


I'm glad other people are finally realizing that this is a great skimmer to mod for a great price!

btw,
I drilled out the stock venturi, I broke out the inner tube (I think it just wastes space, and I added my intake for the recirc pump on the flat bottom part right next to the output. Having the intake there sucks up bubbles that would normaly wash out into the sump.

Yeah, got tracking numbers and I'm getting mine next wednesday.
They apparently went out of stock.

Someone mentioned getting a bigger tanks and wanted to know if there was a bigger one. I say get two of these Jebos like I did!

You don't need a needle wheel pump either, all you need is a good venturi. A mag 12 will drive this skimmer nicely. Go for more flow and throttle it back if needed, but don't go undersized.

Man I just wish mine would get here sooner.

You could go this route but it will raise the temp of the tank and its bubbles arent as fine as a needlewheel. It will also use more power. A Oceanrunner or Sedra cost about as much as a Mag pump anyway.
 
Just an update pic, still working great, I'm keeping it in place of my beckett skimmer.

unfortunatly, I don't have a shot of the skimmer running, but it pulls some gunk. I'm in the process of re-working it a little.
 
That looks like a pretty easy mod Will! Good thinking! I'm gonna have to ponder doing something like that with mine! Did you completely remove the inner riser tube?
 
I re worked the skimmer. I ended up using a pipe tap to clean up the input of the recirc pump. I'm probly going to swap out the driving pump for a DIY sedra down the road.

I think I might buy one my only question is?? Is it made very very cheep I bought a jebo 2003 and im afraid to even touch it every time i do a peice breaks
 
yeah i saw those, was hoping to get it a little cheaper, the shipping charge is $40. and didnt see any 520's. that auction is over

That was I that asked about a larger version of this skimmer. I know buying 2 of these is cheaper than buying 1 large "standard" skimmer, but is running 2 just as effective? Also, with two of these larger pumps running, is it going to be as effecient than running 1 large pump? What about heat generated by 2 pumps?
I'm trying to run a very efficient (power wise) tank with my new setup. Thanks!
 
I changed a few things. I cut the inner rise tube about 1/2 its normal size to get more volume of the skimmer filled with bubbles. I also ditched the ball valve and used a flo span repair coupling to regulate the water height. I am running it very wet cause thats how I like it. ( Hold over form my beckett skimmer I guess )
