Yes I agree with Ironman, Kip. Truly awesome. I am sorry I wasn't able to attend your gathering last weekend. I do hope it was a good one.

:)

yeah.. was a pretty good get together... there were some folks from raleigh and possibly greensboro that were rumored to come... but didnt make it

its nice being able to have people over to see it in person instead of having to pull your hair out to share your tank via pics on the internet

i see it everyday so i get numb to it... nice to hear the comments visitors make. Makes me appreciate my good tank fortune even more.

that pic might make me quit... un believable. have you ever had any nuisance problems?? algae, red bugs, etc?? and what is your qt regimen??

as a pain in the arse as it is... i do ship frags from time to time

nuissance problems... had bugs last spring... i have a strict QT/treatment routine i follow for new stuff to the tank.

i broke that routine once on 1 frag this spring. guy swore up and down he didnt have bugs and treated, etc, etc.... well, the frag from him did have bugs. later his bugs were shown to him and his response was "ahhh, so thats what bugs are" ... yeah :( :(
anyway... i took care of that minor episode and since then... I TRUST NOBODY ... you could be a world known 20 yr hobbyist and give me an acro frag that you say is RB-free and i will still treat it.

A coupla months ago i had frag that i saw an odd blotchy spot on... looked closer... AEFW...eggs at the base of the frag plug too.... i immediately trashed it and all the corals within a 6-8" radius of it and havent seen one since. I probably trashed a lot of perfectly good frags (some "LE" stuff) but i didnt wanna risk it... i have thoroughly inspect the other corals in the frag tank about a dozen times since then and havent seen anymore

oh... and "thanks" to those who said nice things.

gorgeous,unbelievable,Truly awesome,absolutely stunning.
I can think of any more good words to said .
I have to asked one more thing do you clip them or let them be when they get to close and touch ?

i used to clip them... but that was a battle i couldnt win

i havent had any corals fight and then one die... but i have had instances like when a prostrata grew into the superman monti .... unfortunately the monti "adopted" the colors of the prostrata and now my superman monti no longer holds up to its moniker.

with all the corals growing in there thereisnt much room but have you ever had a nuisance algae problem? Valonia, Bryopsis, etc?

there is some valonia and botyrocladia hiding in spots that the fish cant get to.... the worst of these spots is in the overflow. If i dont reach in there and clean it out from time to time... the red bubble (botyro) will start to grow b/w the overflow teeth and clog the overflow :(

over the years the worst nuissance algae i have dealt with is the red bubble. it is very hard to get rid of and only a few things eat it.

You had a cross - species pigment transfer?
please post a pic this is something i'd love to experiment with !

pigment transfer....

its not as cool as you'd think... nothing like tyree's grafted coral

2 instances that stick out in my mind:
... german blue digi grows into an orange digi.... i end up with an orange digi with a brown base and the german blue is unaffected

the superman/prostrata mentioned above.... the prostrata was a purplish brown... the suerpman was of course blue and red... once they grew into each other... the superman just dulled out to the muted purplish brown color of the prostrata

ok... a 3rd example... the same prostrata... a teal formosa grows into it... now sections of the brown/purple prostrata are showing teal coralites.

sorry... it isnt as glamourous and sexy as you'd want... no superman prostratas unfortunately :(

FTS update needed!

you'd have to want the very shot i am worst at taking :(

New custom reactor is finished. Picture does it no justice, the thing is huge. (dual 8x30 cast chambers) It is built like a brick (uhhh) poop-house with hand polished edges and everything. The guy that built it is very particular when it comes to details and strength of materials.

So, here it is.. the pic of my new custom Brian Ferguson Calcium Reactor.

another pic that gives a little more scale

as soon as i can get the media from the good folks at FinsReef.. i am gonna hook this suckah up!!!!

somewhere around 50-70lbs... i'll see soon enough... will probably run each chamber around 3/4 full
