Kip, How old is your tank??

tank held water late aug of 04.... coral frags went in (*for good) dec 04... so what is that? 18-19 months old?... yeah... a little over a year and a half

*corals originally went in oct 04, but had to come right back out and go into a frag tank because i had a crypto outbreak. It was easier to hypo the display. I lost a coupla nice frags during this fiasco, but after hypo was over and things settled down... the frags went back into display a coupla days before christmas 04.

yep... there were a handful of frags that were in a small frag tank before this display. But yeah, all were grown from frags.

Hey Kip, not sure if you mentioned already, but I don't want to check back 14 pages. What's your fish population, and how much are you feeding?

fish population went up a lot lately... i added about a dozen different damsels...

i feed once, sometimes twice a day

i feed on rotation: PE mysis, a homemade blend (similar to borneman's), spirulina flake, and prime reef flake... oh.. and a sheet of nori about twice a week

for instance.. yesterday.. all i fed was PE mysis... i fed 3x 1/2" cubes... i would do the same for my homemade blend as well. Flake... i use about a tblspn measure.

For clarity.. i dont feed all of these foods daily... i rotate them. Sometimes i will double up in a day and feed once at lunch then once at nite. (i work a few miles from home.. so i can go home for lunch)

whether i feed once or twice a day depends on how the anthias are looking.

cyano spots.... yep... i use them as test kits :)
I get them also small spots here and there, i can not keep them away for long. If you don't mind what you do to control them.
I use Chemi-clean like every two months or so, if it gets a little out of hand, but most of the times the corals will brown out some from the C.Clean.

i control them by controlling nutrient levels in the tank... i dont use chemi-clean or any other red slime removers (mine is actually light grn cyano)... it only appears in a little area behind the rock work. If i dont have any cyano, then i know my tank is too nutrient poor. If it starts to spread, it is too nutrient rich. If there are just a few spots that don't spread.... everything is alright. :)

Yes I agree with Ironman, Kip. Truly awesome. I am sorry I wasn't able to attend your gathering last weekend. I do hope it was a good one.

:)
