Kenya Tree eroding

I've got a Kenya Tree with a trunk that appears to be disintegrating. About 2 weeks ago, it began throwing branches throughout the tank, and I've now got about 6 that have secured themselves. All have the similar malady affecting their base. Additionally, they look wilted/withdrawn, as though when touched.

I've got photos, but don't have enough posts yet. I'll give it a try anyway...

Thanx for any help/advice anyone has on these.

Give it time.. Its just potentially moving and used lots of energy to pop off new "babies" of itself..

As to photos.. As long as you don't link to external sites/images while you are new there is no problem..

If the coral is literally disintegrating right before your eyes I would remove it. Maybe cut off a few healthy branches beforehand though.

What would cause a kenya tree to dissolve? It just happened to mine, day one looked pouty, day 2 worse, day three literally dissolving. Put a zip lock bag around it to remove to help capture the 'sludge'. No changes in water parameters (been monitoring every week or two), nothing new added in over 6 months. Other soft corals (toadstool, sinularia, xenia and mushroom polyp) are happy as is LPS (candy canes, Duncan's and Caribbean rose). Really bummed out, just trying to figure out what happened.

I think some of it has to do with stress. I've had it happen to a couple of mine, but, they weren't in good condition when they arrived after being shipped

Well, I would agree except this Kenya Tree has been in the tank awhile, and not much was done to the tank to disturb it. Unless it may be the stress of throwing the branches. This is what I've decided was probably the cause, since they all look better now and the "mother" tree has stopped releasing branches...for now. All of the Kenyas in the tank look very good now, but they have retained the discoloration at the base - no more disintegration...

Same issue here not really sure, I bought them discounted basically got 2 for 1/2 price. I figure worse case I am only out 10 dollars. Now it seems to have got worse with some kind of fuzzy slime growing on one covering the polyps. Should I discard this before it effects my tank?

I don't know about the fuzzy slime, as I never saw that on mine, but without a positive ID, I think I would take it out. Guess it would also depend on how much you stand to lose, in the event it negatively impacts your entire tank. A picture wouldn't go amiss here either. I'm sure someone on this site can ID the fuzzy slime, with a good pic.

After my original Kenya Tree stopped throwing branches, the disintegration stopped and the discoloration slowly went away. Everyone looks happy now, but I'm finding those branches growing in the weirdest places now. I've cut many out to give away to friends and LFS for credit, and made sure not to get them started in my other tanks.

Well not sure I can use imgur or not but hard to link pics without an external server for the size of files. I do not have much invested in tank since it is only a few weeks old.

Now I tried to get a better shot of slime and a very stubborn emarld carb would not let og of rock and I shock it a little bit to get him off slime bubble popped but here is the picture.

They can survive nearly anything I would give it more or less flow and see what suits it better.

I've had Kenyas for years. Mine will go through phases where they clamp up and look unhappy. Other times they are throwing babies around the tank like there is no tomorrow. If it continues and your tank parameters are okay, try moving it for lighting or flow changes.
