Kessil A360WE

360 en route for my Reefer Nano! It will be replacing a Nanobox Duo that is too adjustable IMO. Looking forward to the simplicity of the Kessil.

Just put my 360s back on with a third one this time

Great looking tank! With three of them in such a tight space, you probably don't have much shadowing. While I supplement with 2 rows of T5, I only have 6 360 over my 8ft.

Wow! Awesome! One 360 should be ok on my 18x18x18 right? Your triple threat has me second guessing.

Well.. yes and no. With SPS and a single LED source there will be shadowing once the frag grows branches and starts turning into a colony.

Thanks.. yes there's still shadowing, bot not much. I'll probably still add T5s to eliminate all shadowing.

A bit of shadowing looks natural and SPS bore me so I think I'm good then. It's out for delivery today :bounce3:

Question on controller:
How much added functionality is there if you connect them to an apex?
I just bought two lights used that'll arrive tomorrow and they came with the spectral controller, so I'm hesitant to get the VDM and Apex cable due to cost.
I know that I can use the graphs in Apex Fusion to set the timing, but isn't that something I can do with the Kessil controller anyway?
If there's a significant benefit to Apex connection I'll consider it, it's just a lot of money to spend if there's no added value.

Thanks!

If you have any IO ports open on your apex you can use that but no you gain nothing plugging into the apex as opposed to the spectral controller. In fact you lose some items like the acclimation settings and such.

None other than seeing and controlling them online.

How many A360WEs should i have on a 6 foot tank? By the website specs (covering 24 x 24) I should only need 3, but it looks most folks on here would probably recommend more?

Currently 3x A360WEs and 2 Chinese black LED boxes. I have 3x A360NEs sitting around, but I'll probably sell those since I probably can't work them into this very well.

I had 3 on a 6 foot no issue but as my sps grew i was planning to add more on angles to help with shading. It is not lack of par it is shading that is the issue.

It would be plenty for most lps and softies.

Thank you. I appreciate the info. I was hoping that was the case. I just took down 3 NE models that were like 11 months old and bought new WE models. I'm tired of spending money!

Can anyone explain how acclimation mode works on the spectral controller? I just hooked one up to my 360we and have it set up for a duration of 14 days at a starting intensity of 40%. I have it set to return to my quick set program after the acclimation period. Will it follow my quick set and max out at 40% and ramp up over 14 days until it reaches my max intensity of 60%? Not much information about how it works out there.

That's what I ended up doing. Started with three 360's over my 7' tank and then gradually added four 160s functioning as target lights to combat shading.

Anyone? Kessil just tells me how to set it and gives me the link to the instructions. I'm interested in exactly what acclimation mode does. Does it follow its own schedule or mine?
