I have IM Nuvo Fusion 40 with a Kessil A360WE. It is mounted about 8" above the water. The aquarium is only about 2 months old and so far I'm keeping soft corals and some LPS (frogspawn, hammer coral, acans, and a trumpet). My rockwork goes fairly high; the frogspawn is currently only about 5" from the surface. I have only ramped the intensity of the light up to 25% peak for about 2 hours a day (total light period is 10 hours). Everything looks fine. My questions is what is the maximum beneficial intensity I should be looking at for this tank? Should I just leave it where it is, or should I slowly increase it to some point? I may add some SPS someday, but for now I'm just interested in the LPS and soft corals.
I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere in this thread, I did not read all 30 pages.
Thank you for any input!
I have a 30x30 x24 cube tank. It was previously lit with 4 AI Hydra 52's (running at 60percent roughly). I supplement with 3 T5 fiji blue and actinic. I had great growth , I even had acro frags that fell to the bottom of the tank and started encrusting. They spread out so far that 3 frags covered 1/4 of my tank and they started to go to war against each other. But my colors were never that great. My Bonsai's lack that deep purple and bright green look and everything felt washed out.
I removed 1 T5 bulb, 2 Hydra 52 and added 4 Kessil 360WE. The kessils were 18 inches apart but basically form a square. My 2 Hydra 52 was moved to the sides.
After about 1 month now, all I can say is WOW. I really wish I had a before and after photo. My Bonsai never looked so good and some of my other corals I thought were ugly suddenly colored up a lot. I had a frag that I thought were deep dark green were really bright green.
I would hands down recommend the Kessils to anyone. I think the key tho is you have to get enough of them. You need enough to overcome the shadowing from lack of light.
Does the 150 even have a control port?

welp, guess that answers that. ha, thanks :crazy1:
Can you share your photoperiod and light settings. My GARF Bonsai has been in my tank for a month now. It came from a T5/LED combo SPS dominant tank.
I have a 65g with 2 360we....which are on a Kessil controller. Right now I am on a 12 hour photoperiod, with only about 3 hours at max at like 40% color, 50% intensity. The rest of the time is a ramp up/down with like a 25 color/30 intensity.
The GARF looks fine, but it may look a tad bit more brown than before. Hard to tell, since it's only been in my tank about a month. I am more afraid of bleaching out the coral.
So.....if I was to get some browning.....would I be better off keeping the color and photoperiod the same, and just ramp up the intensity SLOWLY; or do I keep the intensity where I am currently, and just increase the whites SLOWLY.
What makes my situation tricky, is that I keep my LPS on the opposite side of the tank from the SPS. Hence.....I currently run higher settings on the SPS side, so I don't burn up my LPS. The other variable is flow, but I have my powerheads positioned in a way that gives the SPS good flow, without affecting my LPS?
I guess a better question is what would be the direct result of browning...would it be not enough white, or not enough intensity? Or a combo of both? I guess that since this is my first SPS, I am just trying to get a perspeyctive on how these lights affect SPS. With my LPS....I have been good up until this point. Thanks.
Oh I forgot. I have not added any corals yet so with my time line I am thinking that I will have lights to setup and test prior to coral stocking
I know most off the threads spoke about a break in relative to and existing lite being replaed by Kessil So I get the Segway to acclimate an existing tank
Say though you added one coral do you guys dial it back for that one new piece?
Thx
I am sold
I will be buying the 360we x3 before years ends. Thanks for all the good info here
Any thoughts on the Kessil controller vs the apex one ?
They are asking 99 for the Kessil one ?
So after seeing the shimmer I am sold on 2x A360we for my 120g (48x24x24). I have an APEX so good on that. Question, I assume that I could buy 2x Apex control cables and cable 1Kessil to the V1 port and the other to the V3 port for independent control of the Kessils via Apex programming?

Slief,
How is your tank doing? How many kessil are you using now?
