kole tang not eating

Picked up a 3 inch kole tang 4 days ago and he isn't eating. I've tried nls pellets, spirulina flake food, rods food, mysis, nori and nori rubberbanned to a rock.

He's looking good on tank transfer number 2. Should I start prazipro treatment? He does pick at the glass, but there really isn't algae in the QT tanks.

forgot about those hikari algae wafers. I dropped one in his pvc elbow. He took 8 nips in 20 mins at the wafer so thats a good sign. I'll let him eat that, then start prazi on the next tank transfer

For future reference, this is a fish I would get eating first before doing tank transfer. They do well when QT'd in an established tank with live rock to pick at all day until they start eating. Once they do, they aren't picky at all IME.

my kole tang ate immediately after i put him in my qt. his favorite was formula 2 but he also ate mysis and occasionally brine shrimp. i keep a few small rocks in my sump that i put into qt when i get a new fish. got a yellow coris wrasse today and he's been picking at a rock all day.

are you using any vitamin supplements? i soak all food in either selcon or vita-chem.

no vitamens yet, I'll look into those and I might try some garlic food dip too. I'm all for having bright healthy fish

I was expecting him to be a piggy with the nori, I guess I got a finicky eater on my hands

i gave my tang nori several times and he ignored it. i have tried putting some on a clip now that he's in my dt and the only thing that eats it are my urchins.

Don't be so concerned as long as he's pecking at rock, and cleaning the glass. Mine pecked and showed zero interest in Rod's herbivore blend, nori, really, anything. He watched the others and just looked confused. He kept his weight the entire time, and never showed any issues.

One day out of the blue, he goes in with the pack when I feed and eats anything, mysis, Rod's, any frozen. He isn't eating pellets, but he gets plenty to eat between my rock, glass, and frozen. He's one happy camper.
