alright, aquaph8, you've inspired me to do something.
the tank has been in cruise control the last few weeks. I've been super busy so i haven't really been buying any fish or corals. I've just been trying to keep the tank stable by dosing each night and the parameters have been rock solid. because there isn't really anything new going on, i figured i'd mess around with some two month growth shots. (i'll get some better tank shots when it gets dark outside)
wild blue acro
top left (wild blue acro, bop, and joe the coral)
crayola
blue tip slimer
and some of the wild colonies are finally showing potential. this efflo is getting some neon green growth tips, it was almost white when I added it to the tank.
I know it's not much of an update but at least it's something. lol. Thanks guys!
Awesome growth shots! You know you are doing something right when your corals grow like that in 2 months.
I have a quick question for you. I was on Mike and Terry's thread and they didn't have the answer readily available and I want to know if you can help. Can you tell me the width of the trim for the top and bottom of your tank? I am also in the process of putting together a 300g DD tank and wanted to know the viewable space so knowing the width of the trim will help. Thanks in advance!

thanks for the response cubsare, i was going to measure it when i got home, but you beat me to it.
anway, a small update.
I woke up yesterday morning to an email waiting for me on my phone. I open it up and it's an in-stock notification from live aquaria. I thought to myself, that's funny, I havent signed up for an in-stock notification on la for like two years, i wonder what it is. i click the link and low and behold it's a male red sea eight line flasher/fairy wrasse. a fish i've been looking for for probabaly 2+ years. anyway, long story short, 24 hours later.....
just after adding him to qt. please excuse the camera pics.
thanks guys, the 8 line is doing good so far (its been 24 hrs). he even took a few bites of food last night.
a friend of mine has been trying to get me to go with a diy led system and i've been reluctant because it's still newer technology. So he decided to bring by his 4 ft strip with 24 3w cree (i believe) blue leds. we put it over the tank.......and everything went neon! with only a 24 bulb strip, it was crazy. obviously the all blue was way too blue, but i couldnt believe the glow of the corals. i'm seriously considering giving leds a shot. i tried to take a few pics but only a couple even turned out close.
anyway, i thought it was pretty cool.
crayola
one of my frags of my war coral colony (the colony pic didnt turn out right)
Your tank looks better and better great job
I do have a question on your at that you have did you have to do anything special for him I will be getting one next week and even though I have read the 40+ page thread on the at still a little nervis about it.
I just read your thread and am glad I have also chosen the 300 DD tank. I've had my tank for almost 2 years and haven't even started my build. Things always seem to be getting in the way. Hopefully 2012 will allow me to start this build and finish up somewhere even close to yours. Looks great keep us posted...If you do find a dosser and get it set up show some pics and tell us how you like it.
Congrats on the new addition! Those LED's really do pop the colors. As they get cheaper and cheaper hopefully they will get in a range where more of us can afford them.
This is just incredible to watch. What a great idea for making a home for him AND giving him large rubble to use.
the blue spot jawfish has been a blast to watch. I've been giving him a few pieces of rubble rock each night to make him feel at home. I made a quick video of night number 3 in the tank just after i dropped in a little rubble. He's still timid but getting more comfortable each day.
Love your 300 DD.
I have a question for you or any other ML 300 dd. I know the dimensions of the tank are 72x36x27. Can you provide the length and width of the bottom trim?
Thank you
