Leonardo's Lagoon

Every time I get an email there's been a reply to this thread I get all excited that there may be more pictures... The masses are congregating Leonardo. :D

Do you have a grand design plan for fish or still ironing it out?

Is this system going to be one that is viewed from over haed? I see that its only 14" inches high. have you tested it yet with water? the glass looks very thin for a rimless tank. I think its going to be killer tank can't wait to see it filled with water.

Thanks for the reactions!

trueblackpercula; The glass is not too thin, it's 12 mm (0.47") For this height that is more then enough.
The tank has been build by a well known tank builder, I am totally confident that it will hold :)

It will not be a top down view tank only. Because of the high stand (40") it will be also possible to view it from front and side. I will also aquascape it in a way that it is a pleasure to look at it this way.

dreaminmel; I still have to iron out many things. When the tank is in place, imagination takes over and the only thing I have to do is a lot of research and making notes ;) I really can't tell you anything yet :)

Wow the glass is thicker than it appears in the photos. I am just amazed at the equipment and the thought going into this new set up. I can't wait to see the end result. Have you decided what type of tables you are going to be growing? and will there be a schooling type fish this time around :)

Leonardo,

Congrats on graduating. I loved the Formosa Forest. Definitely inspired my next setup. I'm gonna be building a 36" X 36" X 18".

Your new tank will be legendary :)

Will be watching this thread.

Tritonian; Thank you! Let me know when you start a build-thread ;)

trueblackpercula; Of course there will be schooling fish again ;) I will expand my school with several Apogon species.

I'm still researching what kind of SPS I will hold in this tank, but it have to be species that like high light and high flow, to mimic a Reef Crest.
Several Acropora come into mind:

Acropora Humilis
Acropora Millepora
Acropora Hyacinthus
Acropora Nasuta
Acropora Cytherea
Acropora Efflorescens
Etc.

Besides that I will keep several Poccilopora, Montipora and some "LPS" corals

Yes, I dismantled it, fragged the colonies, cut out the dead parts (because of lack of flow and light...) and gave them a good Iodine dip because I was busy anyway ;) Luckily I didn't find any pests.
It was not an easy thing to do... :(

Everything out of the FF will be transferred to the new tank. The tank itself will be used as a sump and Cryptic Refugium. (I'm already succesfully propagating several kind of sponges)

Currently I'm building the new stand. (out of four seperate components) It will be plated with high gloss white panels. This will give some extra strengt also.
However, the right and two front panels will be fully removable and will be connected to the stand using small magnets. This makes mainenance easier.

Not finished yet...

You can also notice the red/white 30 Gallon vessel for the Calcium Reactor by-pass.
Don't mention the campy retro-chair in the back;)

And of course 44" of overflow teeth ;)

Wow, this is going to be an amazing tank...I can already picture it full of perfectly placed and spaced tabling acros.

Very nice design Leonardo... Congrats on the new tank. I really like your schuran Ca reactor and the Kalk reactor....

Thanks Steve, I'm following your thread closely. It has been and still is an inspiration for me. I'm looking forward to see the finished system.

mcliffy2, thank you. I'm also beginning to see the final picture :)

So the tanks 14" tall, and youre using a wavebox. Do you plan on having the waves set real low? I take it youre sticking with your BB ways.... Just kinda curious why so shallow. It seems like it woulda helped having it a little taller, but not totally fill it. That way you could have some taller waves. Not doubting your choice, since your last tank was so awesome, though I am curious.
