Noticed yesterday that my long-established Potters leopard has a really impressive case of popeye. Still swimming and eating. Typically with an established fish, I just let it's immune system handle. Any thoughts from the leopard pros?
If it's still acting normal I'd leave him and feed more

Friday night I purchased a a Meleagris Leopard (I believe - they said it's from Fiji and it's colored like the Meleagris I saw the night before at a buddy's house), very pretty, about 2". They said they had her quarantined for almost 3 weeks before putting her in gen pop, where she's been for 2 weeks. I couldn't see her eat, though they tried to feed her in front of me. I'm probably nuts but I bought her. I got some Garlic Guard to entice her to eat when she shows herself, I'm looking for some black worms and I've ordered some Prazipro, just to be safe. I asked them to put some sand in the bag so that she could bury herself during transport, which she did. I don't have any sand in my quarantine tank so I put her into the display, which I'm sure wasn't the best idea but I also didn't want to move her yet again (I've been wisely advised to put a bowl with sand into the QT next time, which I will do).

As I was feeding the tank and generally doing a well being check, I saw this bubble behind my anenome's rock... it is the Leopard, partially emerged and in a cocoon! I didn't realize they do this. Is it normal? I don't have the black worms yet so I'm looking for some brine shrimp, to entice her to eat when she's ready to join the group. Any other suggestions (though I REALLY want to know about the cocoon!)

This is a 65 gallon with 20 gallon sump, with 2-3 inches of sand, 55 lbs of live rock from a previously established tank. Other inhabitants are a young Black Oscellaris Clownfish pair, a young Lubbocks Wrasse, a 4" Starry Blenny, and a very young and small Crested Oyster Goby.

I hope so too, but I'm worried that you're right. I'll see tomorrow if she's still in the same state. No one has gone near that spot, which I find interesting. I read that the cocoon is to hide their scent from predators. Where I found her was not where she initially buried herself, either. It's all a bit strange. I guess I'll learn something within the next day or two...
It's like this one: https://youtu.be/id--4E-1hdI

I'm not sure that leopards actually form a cocoon - I know some wrasses that sleep in the rocks form them. I am pretty sure yours is toast (had a potters look like that once, and it was a gonner). Sorry to say.

I didn't think they did, that's why I thought I'd better ask. I'll take her out in the morning.

They don't form a cocoon. Sorry to say but its dead.

How old is your tank? That fish should be covered in critters and not bacteria.

Yeah, I took it out. This tank is only 2 months old. I moved it over from a smaller tank.
Luckily my skimmer did its job and my nitrates didn't skyrocket. I'll do a small water change tonight, though.
I hate that the fish didn't make it but I was aware of the possibility. I'll wait a while and when I see another from an LFS I trust more, then I'll get it.

I've got a Kuiter's trio (large male, large female and small male) as well as a Feminus pair in my tank at the moment. The 3 Kuiter's and male Feminus are all on pellets already, while the female Feminus was on mysis but recently started throwing a tantrum and stopped eating prepared foods. I see her pecking on the rocks, presumably for pods which my tank has a healthy population of, but I'm starting to get worried. Anyone have suggestions on how to get her back eating?

P.S. I have a juvenile Lennardi too that the farm is helping me QT in copper at the moment as my QT tanks are currently full. It's feeding well :D

P.P.S I'm waiting for the next shipment of healthy Chaoti to come in. I missed out the last 2 shipments because my schedule didn't permit me to go purchase before they were sold out, and the shipment before that wasn't healthy

P.P.P.S Anyone realize yet that I love wrasses?

Where are you getting these wrasses???

Major jealously going on at my keyboard! Four of my dream species!

I just collected my Lennardi today - it's going into a breeder box in the QT tank while I beef it up with lots of food. It's tiny and I don't want it to be bullied!

I'm located in Singapore and it's a shorter distance to here from Australia, so we do get regular Australia shipments including such wrasses in.

Unfortunately, the Feminus didn't make it :( Luckily the male is still feeding and active. Gonna have to wait a few months for the next shipment to come in to replace my female
