So after my Female Meleagris was doing so well, it just one day it was having trouble swimming, wasnt eating and then didnt come out for 2 days...

I found her the next day with snails and crabs all over her!!!!!! I think she lost a fight with internal parasites as I examined her body after taking her out of the tank and she looked fine.

I will have to start looking for another one! She was my favorite fish...

Here are a few pics of my male M. bipartitus.

Well, I think it's officially time to say R.I.P. to my male bipartitus. It looks like just the above, and was one of the largest I've seen at or over 6" for some time.

I got him many years ago at about 3-4", and he quickly grew to the large tame monster in my tank. I haven't seen him for a week, and he's never been gone for more than a day. I know he definitely had some age to him. I think he took that final sand dive and never came back. :(

use the prazi pro for the parasites , it wont kill every kind but you have to start somewhere .

I did treat with prazipro quite often but I guess it wasnt enough

Sorry about your lose RokleM!

sorry to hear that , beautiful looking fish . maybe he has been sleeping and will suprise you ! certainly hope so .
+1

Beauty too.

+1 again on the loss. Mine is one of my favorites. Maybe because you don't see so many of them in tanks, but in any case, I'd miss it if it were to die. Hopefully, I'll get several years out of mine, too:).

thats a real good deal ! just had a yellow rinoplias jump out of my tank last night and came home today to find two choati leopards with crabs all over them eating dinner . bad day at my house .

OIC :) Any idea about the choati's then?

not even a clue my friend , the choati's have been doing well .at least two have been out 90% of the daylight hours but the third has been iffy at best in and out of the sand all day long and sometimes not showing himself except for his morning feeding . so i really have no clue there just getting to testing water in a few minutes "but it looks like water" ya know? i must amuse myself sorry for the dry joke. okay i will let you know if the water is messed up asap but i think not .time will tell .
thanks for the concern too Dave
