they are from Hawaii and do not ship well . it usually takes two days to ship directly to me here in NY . you should find some that are from a wholesaler in USA and then the shipping will be one day . still is the fact that they are very poor shippers so be sure and get them comfortable asap. i only temp acclimate them and also dont QT them as they will be over stressed by it and die usually . these are my opinions and you can bring in disease in doing it this way but i have had great success by reducing the stress and getting them eating asap .IMO they are one or the more delicate wrasses that there are so you should treat the just like any other leopard wrasse .

good luck my friend

They're probably the toughest. I've only ever heard of 25% success rates from the local guys. I just recently got one and all it will eat is pellets (Score!). After a month and a half feeding pellets he's getting nice and fat.

If you can get it eating, that's half the battle. If you can get it to gain weight, you're on the home stretch.

I've found my potter's to be fidgety though. Other leopards I've had settle in right away. The potter's will still run back and forth along the glass when the main lights are on but mellows out a bit when just the actinics are on. Still trying to figure this one out.

how hardy are the Potters wrasse?

I picked up a potters Sunday...my LFS said he was eating artic-pods in store for the past 3 days..stupid me, I left the LFS and forgot to pick up a bottle of pods..

just defrosted some mini mysis into the tank and the potters is eating like a pig!! am I half way home, or should I be worried he may die off like the usual??

If its eating and not being picked on you should be fine. Which store got them in? Mine likes meaty foods and pellets, no flakes though.

Hi Cody (it's me Steve, Tony's friend who got the Tunze powerhead raffle-jacked at RAP..lol)

Okay, it's eating like a pig, so i'm happy. I bought it at Chad's/Coral Gazers...so far mini mysis is doing the trick..i will incorporate other meaty foods for tonight's dinner..what meaty foods do you feed? I have a bunch of frozen foods, so I can experiment, but I don't want my water quality to get nasty if try to feed too many..so far no pellets are being picked at by my potters

btw, I also picked up a GOLDEN ANGEL (dwarf), which started eating today for the first time, so i'm stoked :bounce2:

Hey Steve I remember you. Cool, Coral Gazers is my closest LFS. Chad/Rukis are really making that store better and better. My potters likes frozen cubed mysis and cyclops, along with the pellets. He'll eat some of the liquid coral foods as well but that has plankton in it too. Yeah go easy on the feeding, we all overfeed at times its hard. My fish say feed me everytime I walk by.

thanks for the tips Cody...i'm going to grab a pack of cyclops and give it a try..my fish say feed me everytime I walk by too..my problem is that I oblige...which mean water changes every week!

Found my bipartus dead this morning. It was swimming around in the LFS fine and picked at food in my tank. I guess it is just one of those things... On a lighter note, my ornate is eating frozen and flake ad nauseam! Super healthy fish, it appears. Is there a general time limit that can pass before I can stop worrying if it will die? Perhaps after one month?

Please keep us updated and tell us what you did and what is stocked to get to this point. I'd really like to keep one someday.

I started with live mysis, and pods. He wouldn't touch any of the frozen food. This happened for a month. I stopped feeding him the live food for a bout a week and then yesterday he started taking the frozen food, and pellets. With that being said I believe it was luck:bigeyes::ape:

Mine so far is not eating nothing I put in the tank. PE mysis/cyclopeeze/nori/pellets. Only picking at live copepods in the tank which is not enough. Did not come out today. I have a bad feeling with this fella.

My choati is finally taking frozen now!!!! Woooohooooo

Awesome!!

My potters continues to do very well. I have had him a week. He is out every morning eating nutramar ova, cyclopeeze and pe mysis. He has even pecked at some pellets. Stays out all day. He gets along well with my female bipartus pair.

Socaldude, sorry to hear about your bipartus.
