in the front 15-20% I use crushed coral...the rest rest is sugar fine sand.

so i ordered a blue star leopard (Macropharyngodon bipartitus ) and a potters leopard about 2 weeks ago from LA - both came in and were eating well but after about 5 days the potters dove in the sand and hasnt come out since. it's been in the sand no about a week 1/2. The bipartitus did the same about 4 days ago. i know that they can do this but how long should i expect to wait?

just leave them both alone and give them space . let nature take its course as usually they will come out within a week and maybe more so be patient and do not dig them out .

no no, i wouldnt dig them out. i know that will do MUCH more harm than good. just trying to get an idea of how long they may stay buried

well im not saying to forget them but treat your tank as they are not there and let nature do as it will with your fish . they have been known to stay under for a month and even more and then just appear as if they were hibernating and in perfect condition so dont worry . one thing that you may find is that their "time clock" is off and they may come out at night and forge for food then sleep during the day . many times you will never see them coming out at night as they will hide as you enter the room so dont be concerned because there is nothing that you can do at this point just wait them out and cross your fingers .another note ,90% of mine that have died come out to do so for some reason so you will usually find them if they succumb to the stresses from their collection ,warehousing and shipping process .

so my leopards still haven come out of hiding, im not gonna really mess with them or try to dig them out but was wondering if adding garlic drops either to the food im feeding or the water column would maybe coax them out of the sand, anyone ever try this with any luck?

garlic does stimulate the eating response IMO ,its mainly used as a "health" product but may also help you out , try a couple of drops and see if they come out . i would have the food ready and dont scare them running up to the tank if they do come out . realistically i would think that when you feed your tank they would have already come out if they wanted to .
it is very difficult to wait them out as your experiencing right now but there is nothing that you can do but wait them out and hope nature is nice . usually when mine finally come out they just appear in the morning like nothing at all has happened . the feeding response probably wont coax them out IMO but you wont hurt a thing trying .how long has it been since they were introduced ?
