AO sent a few pics of the tank in progress. Looks like the overflow is on the correct side this time :)

Fishtruck - yea, I am ready, thats for sure.

dudester - thanks, it is actually a 238g, I decided to go for 26" high instead of 24" at the last minute. Plus having the external overflow makes it look a lot bigger.

salty - thanks much.

joe - it is supposed to ship out late this week or early next, hopefully arriving by the end of next week.

Check out my building, 165 N. Canal, its west loop, but pretty close to Columbia. one of the great things about it is low taxes and low assesments. The taxes on a 1B are about $2500, and assesments around 300/month (that includes a gym, which otherwise cost 100+ month here, doorman, mailroom, insurance, heated parking, directv, and water).

So, after you guys left last night, I sat down and visualized in my head our tank x 3. This is going to be one killer set up

Did you add sand? ;) Stacy loved you guys' place btw, she wouldn't stop talking about how nice it was on the way home. How is the copperband looking?

Damn, that's it? That's a third of our property taxes. I should move the family to She-CaRRR-Go.

No sand :p ....and no Copperband :(

Chainsaw,

South Loop has a lot of new properties...they are commanding higher prices now, but give it a year or two and I wouldn't be surprise if they come down.

In a six block radius of us we have 5+ new high rises going up, one of which is 700ft-65 stories... already some are having a difficult time selling.

South Loop isn't very Columbia....not trendy enough I suppose ;) A lot of my friends that attend there live in Pilsen, still has some lofts and much more affordable. It's a "rough" area so they score brownie points while riding their fixed gear bikes  i joke

Sorry for the derailment Mike

Sorry about the copperband, you guys did everything in your power.

off topic convo is welcome. I actually have (or had, since I think its expired) my IL real estate license. I had a real estate company during law school to pay the bills, so I'm always interested in the real estate market. Eric is right on the south loop (and west loop for that matter), they are overbuilt and there will be a dip in prices over the next couple years. 1-2 years from now will be a prime time to buy - I still dont think now is optimal, since the Feds recent rate cuts have delayed the drop that will inevitably occur.

Too fly - what are the dimensions on your 238g AGE? Your the only other person I've seen with this volume. People always look at me like I'm nuts when I say I have a 238g.

Same here. I get "what's wrong with a standard 225?" I tell them the wife said it was ok to squeeze in the additional two inches of depth. :D The dimensions are supposed to be 72 x 32 x 24, which according to the RC calculator is approximately 238 gallons. Now I'm finding out that she would like for me to stick with 30" in depth.

So would she flip if you went for 36"? :) When you talk to them, see about bumping from 24 to 26 inches high...the additional cost for me was negligible.

change of direction here...what do you guys think of schuran CA reactors? I noticed that AO carries them so I could get the 10% discount and free shipping with my tank. I like the idea that its mounted on a board and I could hang it on the wall next to the tank. Otherwise, I was thinking of going with the AquaC RX-1 (I think Reef Specialty has them now or will start carrying them soon).
