think it will work with 1 inch glass?

I think they max out at 3/4" glass, although I can't see why you couldn't add some 3/4" Neodymium Magnets to the outside plug to add some more pulling force. I would add some protective felt pads to the mags.. add a couple of these magnets

sacramentodots---> When you go from DSB to BB your Cal/alk demands can drop by as much as 30-40% so keep an eye on it so you don't overdose.

Thanks for the heads up and did notice that in fact. Before I was using about 90ml a day.......and was down to 60mls just after......I just added a Sentry doser about a week ago and have been inching my way up........at "300" the thing will put out 85mls an hour on the two part hosing, currently I am at "11" which is about there.....considering I am WAY down in the ml/hr speed wise I think this pump should last me quite a while. Would like to tune the drops even more to balance it out even better......my next project......

yep my reactor cant keep up... i started touse two part agins couple of weeks ago and growth has picked up..

Two part Here. Getting better growth since ditching the CA reactor :D

Picture414.jpg

So why are you experiencing better growth by switching to 2-part as opposed to the Ca reactor? Just curious. How big is your reef? Also what kind of lighting do you have there? You've got some great coloration in your corals there.

I just hooked up my reactor, and my growth has boomed. I used to keep my params right but they bounced around alot when I added 2 part. I wonder if po4 from the media slows growth for some....

cwegescheide, I don't know why the growth is better. I am running 250W BLV 10k's + VHO actinics. Thanks :)

what ballasts are you running?

I agree your colors are great. I was thinking of going with some XM 10K's and using my current T5's for super actinic supplements.

Is there a good explanation as to why the sandbed sucks up so much ca and alk.

Let me preface this with "I barely passed Chemistry" :)

I believe the Organic to Inorganic nitrification cycle and de-nitrification cycle release acids that change ALK and Calcium to Limestone, or something like that :) Basically I think sandbeds act like a "Reverse Calcium Reactor" hence the name "Sink".

I'm sure Randy on the Chenistry Forum can answer this.

Ceegee, I am using a PFO HQI ballast. Thanks! I'm just happy to have things living again after getting over AEFW's

so those are DE bulbs? I am thinking of going with SE as there just seems to be more choices with them. I have been tempted with the phoenix 14k's though.
