lighting ?

I bought a Milwalkie lux meter a while back thinking it could be very useful in placing my corals and figuring out when to replace bulbs but of course most of us look at par and not lux. is there a conversion to use this meter or am I better off selling it and getting a new meter I have a 20k mh bulb 250 watt and 14 39 watt t5 bulbs going from 3500k to 20,000 k any help would be great. thank you!

The only way to convert is to have the spectral data for the lamp. there is no direct conversion from the measurement that you make in lux to par. It will have to be a specific for each lamp.

So, it would be best for you sell this one off and get a par meter.

I asked Eric Bornman for a good conversion he gave me a few exsamples and linked me to you as of course the expert in the field. after seeing that I was thinking the same thing lol. can I ask your recomendations on meter for the hobbyist level and posibly site to purchase it at. thank you for the fast response and of course happy holiday!
