Looking for a really good skimmer

I am looking to buy a new skimmer in the next couple weeks. I was looking into deltec but can't find supplier of any larger skimmers I am looking for something to handle 800 or so gallons mildly stocked. What are some of the better names out there I am tired of dealing with crap and gave the money to do it right.

For that large of a tank I'd call up life reef systems or marine technical concepts and talk to them. Both will get you what you need.

Whatever you choose, make sure you base your decision on your display capacity and not your total system volume. This is how most high end skimmer manufacturers rate their skimmers in large part because that is where the load is concentrated.

If your tired of dealing with cheap quality products and want the best skimmer on the market then PM Scott, (Slief) ^ and ask him which Bubble King Skimmer he recommends. These are hands down the best skimmers available IMO.

I'm not the expert like he is but with Bubble King skimmers you do not need to buy one that is 1.5x or 2x your water volume, you really want to go with what they recommend and like Scott said, your display tank volume not total water volume with Sump.

For ~800 gallons mildly stocked I would say a BK Supermarin 300 with RD3 would be a great skimmer to look into. I've had one and it is huge and the RD3 pump is super quiet and easy to adjust.

Premiumaquatics is a great place to buy one, they are also a forum Sponsor, check out their subforum and their is a Bubble King Skimmer Club thread which has a plethora of information but before you order one I would definitely ask Scott for his recommendation.

I second this.
Stop playing around with the latest fads and overpriced skimmers.
Get one that just does what it's supposed to day in and day out with minimal fuss, and no proprietary pumps.
I love my LifeReef and the MTC MVX line looks really nice too.

Call NextReef and see what they can do. I have a skimmer they made for a friend who went even bigger and it works just fine. BTW, my system is a 180g reef, 75g FOWLR and a 150g sump/refugium.

Another +1 for Bubble King and Slief. My BK300 is my best piece of equipment, and is of the highest quality. I don't think anyone has expressed regret with the purchase, except for having an empty wallet :) you do get what you pay for with skimmers IMO.

I have a neighbor who cannot get his BK dialed in.

Have your neighbor contact me here or I will be happy to get you my contact info so he can reach me. I will get him dialed in without issue unless he bought a grossly oversized skimmer.
