Magnfica with 2 mouths

I just recently got a magnifica anemone. Its huge and has 2 mouths. Will it split? The only anemone I have ever had that split was a bubble and that took a matter of hours for It to split.

No way of knowing if it will or when.

at 20 days in the tank i would be more concerned with whether it dies or not if i were in your position.

how did your' other mag fare?

Tried one prior and it died. It looked way different out of the box. This new one was inflated out of the bag. The tank is a successful sps dominant 65 gallon square will 2x250w and 4 t5.

great sign to be inflated out of bag. i'm sure i don't have to tell you not to get too excited though. some very experienced hobbyists have lost their mags after months of seemingly perfect health.

i basically assumed my mag was dead as soon as i received it. looking back i think this worked in my favor because it allowed me to leave the mag be.

one little piece of advice for you. if u put a mag in a pre-determined spot, and it doesn't move... leave it alone. i tried to re-arrange things so i could see my mag's beautiful base. as a result i spent weeks trying to get it to stop crawling and falling all over the tank.

pics would be amazing btw :)

I have one that had three mouths when I got it. It split resulting in one large piece and one small piece. I wasn't home at the time, so the smaller piece ended up in the rocks somewhere. Presumed dead. The remaining portion keeps trying to split again, but it doesn't seem to have enough pedal disk left to pull itself apart. It's been doing this for about two months. I'm seriously thinking about getting a razor knife and helping the thing out.

Sorry for crummy pic still trying to figure out how to post pics.

Hes big, probably 9 inches open. i wouldn't consider cutting the nem until Ive had him for months. What do you guys think; does he look healthy?

oh no i wasn't suggesting u split urs right now. i was asking EC how wide his is now.

it's hard to tell without mh. can barely see coloration. a better lighted picture(flash might do it) can help tell if the inner lining has detatched from the outer. mouth looks good for sure. i would say it looks like it's starting off right. really depends on if he starts deflating. that's the kiss of death for these guys
